Itachi is a good character. I don't wish to talk about Itachi's role in Uchiha murder. His reasons can be justified.

However I would like to say the way he treated Sasuke after the murder doesn't seem good to me. Itachi's way of making Sasuke stronger was wrong, I . He made Sasuke feel weak. He goaded Sasuke into seeking strength. He taught Sasuke to hate.
He used doujutsu twice on Sasuke. Wasn't it kind of torture? Why did Itachi think that was the way to make Sasuke strong so that he himself can die at his hands?

Sasuke would have sought revenge no matter when he came to know who the culprit was. I agree. But that is not the point.

Itachi made Sasuke's life more miserable, a kid whose life was already miserable. Really, you save your kid brother from possible death, because you love him dearly. His entire family is butchered. You show him how they were killed by no one other than yourself. You tell him he is worthless, weak and blah blah. Psychologically how would this affect a kid? No doubt he became so obsessed with revenge because of this.

Itachi is one of my favorites. So is Sasuke. So is Naruto. I hope it would be a happy ending for the manga with Sasuke and Naruto becoming brothers.

Peace and harmony my motto.

It depends on from what perspective u do analyze Itachi's deed.

You have to probe ur understanding deep enough to realize Itachi's deed. From naked eye Itachi's deed was a horrible crime. But if u see the true meaning behind his action, then u may forgive him.

It's just like how US destroyed Hiroshima and Nagashaki during 2nd world II. Did/do we hate US for this? Did/Do we forgive US? Some forgive and some not. And even today, nobody blamed US for using nuclear weapon against human coz it did really stop the 2nd world II.

In crude sense, Itachi did a horrible crime, but I assume Itachi did a very delicate job which is rather unfamiliar with our beliefs and which needs lots of courage, maturity, understanding, knowledge, and sacrifice. If u see the Itachi's job from manga's perspective, u might forgive Itachi.

And whose fault is it that Sasuke is the way he is? That's right Itachi.
Wrong
its acutally not completely Itachi's fault if Tobi had not told sasuke the truth sasuke would have been none the wiser what happened just hapaned its apart of the story. Itachi is a great Char

Dude... Even Danzo respected Itachi and Sasuke doesn't hate his brother and by the look of your name and stuff, you are a sasuke fanboy so why do you hate Itachi so much if your favorite character loves itachi as a brother?
Ask that to Kishi, I think he did it for the sake of the plot.

If I were Sasuke, instead of shifting the blame on Konoha and the new generation that has nothing do do with the massacre, I would just kill the elders and tobi, and put the rest of the blame on Itachi because he could have just declined the mission in the first place.

And ANBU eliminating the Uchiha is practically impossible because Uchiha is the strongest clan in the village, so coming up with that justification is ridiculous.

Itachi is a HERO to Konoha no matter how u look at it... i just wish Sasuke would have realized this
But he is a murderer to the Uchiha and his family - you need to look from my side of the view my friend :drive:

I doubt even in Sasuke's viewpoint, he would not be considered "hero". More like anti-villain/anti-hero.

Minato, Jiraiya, Sandaime, Naruto are the real heroes of the village.

Pay attention to the manga.......If he had refused, then the elders would have assigned the mission to the ANBU black ops. They would've killed everyone including sasuke, that's why Itachi decided to do it himself.
I agree 100% cause if Sasuke would have been killed that night, then Naruto would have never had the friendship bond with him.
Also Naruto wouldn't have trained so hard to bring Sasuke back, and that might have lead to him being captured by the Akatsuki and would have been killed once the nine tails had been extracted.
Apparently everything that happened in Naruto and Shippuden has happened for a reason.

I don't think that was stated in the manga. Even with the ANBU attacking the Uchiha really happened (I don't think it will because it will go to a full fledged war and that will expose the leaf villages dirty secrets around the shinobi world), with guys like Itachi and Shisui, and the rest of the Elite Uchihas, I don't think they would have been fully massacred like what really happened in the story.

Also the war braking out after the coup is also a ridiculous justification because Orochimaru and Sand village did a massive surprise attack on the leaf, and did the other villages join the war to exploit the weakened leaf? No!

Danzo just manipulated Itachi with these baseless speculations...

This thread has reached a conclusion.

Let's just agree we disagree...

Itachi had his reasons... He was not your typical "good guy", but he was not a "bad guy" either... He is more like an antihero... U_U
