Why hate Sasori? He's extremely powerful.

IMO explains why he didn't avoid her last attack, from my understanding I'd say he accepted being killed by his parents.

He's one of the strongest Akatsuki members though, Deidara admitted that Sasori's a lot more powerful than him, and he was calling him 'master' or 'boss'.

You nailed it, what actually happened during said fight and it's ending does not qualify for technical judgement of his skills considering all aspects involded .

Thanks as well to the initial post.. It is lovely to see a little Sasori chatting here. I will probably never get over the fact how early he was taken out by the author, and how much I grew attached to the character of Sasori.

He will always be one of the greatest to me.

I say Sasori is the strongest after Tobi , Pain & Itachi .

Even in the databook , Kishi gave him 34.5 (as I remember) which is only one less than Itachi & Jiraiya

Some examples:
The Third Raikage cannot be touched by any of Sasori's techs because of lightning armor and speed.
Jokey Boy can instantly and repeatedly destroy all puppets in the vicinity.
A tailed beast bomb would wipe out Sasori's puppet army.
Naruto, the fourth Raikage, and minato are all far too fast to be ever hit by the Iron sand.
Sasori has nothing powerful enough to destroy Chibaku Tensei and prevent it from one-shotting him.
Sasori has no particularly impressive defense, compared to Susano'o, Preta path and Shinra Tensei, and Tobi's space/time tech.

The overall pattern is that Sasori gets overwhelmed by raw power too easily. So again, versus someone like Asuma, Sasori would win quicker than say Kakashi, but against a Kage Kakashi would fare better.

Well of course he's not the best. But he was in akatsuki and has captured tailed beasts before. Even orochimaru respected him as much as he respected orochimaru. I believe he could take down most kage, excluding the ridiculously OP kage that have been revealed lately.

Is this because you saw that thread where someone said that Sasori was the weakest member in the Akatsuki? If so, don't listen to that person. He thought Zetsu > SO6P.

Sasori's not weak at all hes very strong. And I believe he wanted to die after seeing his long lost self creation of his parents as puppets. Which is why, even after noticing it, he didn't dodge granny Chiyos last attack.

I pretty much agree with this. I don't know if deidara could beat him, as deidara admitted sasori was stronger, and since C4 won't work against a man that doesn't breathe, i don't see him destroying every puppet before running out of chakra/clay, or being hit at least once. And Chibaku Tensei is just over powered. I agree most with the tie between him an minato.

i never hated sasori at the time when he appeared out of hiruko he was one of my favorite characters as he looked really cool i still like sasori its a shame he died so early in the series but people gotta die lol

He was probably stronger then the majority of the group he was with, aside from poor matchups (Itachi would only survive with Sassco, Hidans partner with Ironskin, Pain and Tobi for not having living bodies and phasing respectively).

He is firmly in the upper teirs. Quite capable of slaughtering entire armies singlehandliedly (imagine if he took part in the fourth war with his assinal of puppets? He would do gigantic damage to generic shinobi), but against certain matchups with resistance/invalibility to basic attacks, he is very poorly postioned to deal with them.

He did anticipate the attack, he just chose not to dodge. Technically it's a loss, but he did also manage to gravely wound both sakura and chiyo.
