I don't understand why people say sasori is one of the weakest akatsuki, and would lose to almost anyone else in the series.
The only reason Sasori was killed (and the only reason he has lost in general) is because he was facing a great puppet master.
Chiyo, sasori's grandmother, was a stellar user of the puppet master jutsu. Not only was she the leader of the puppet brigade, but was also a key figure in the creation of the reincarnation technique, and the master of Monzaemon Chikamatsu's 10 legendary puppets which belonged to the first master of the puppet master jutsu. Chiyo was on the elder council of sunagakure and was also the poison master of the village who was only surpassed in poison and medicine by tsunade, and later sakura. These feats alone make her an extremely dangerous opponent, though could still be beaten by other characters throughout the manga.
Sasori started to master the puppet master jutsu and a surprisingly young age and was also a member of the puppet brigade. In his youth he created most of the puppets used by the brigade, earning him the name of Sasori of the red sand, a reference to the blood stained sand his puppets left in their wake.
Sasori was also the creator, and only known user and only person capable of creating human puppets. A feat that nearly surpasses minato's creation of the rasengan. He was so skilled in this technique that he was able to turn nearly his entire body into a human puppet in order to eliminate the natural weakness of all puppet masters, namely their weakness in close quarters combat, an ability which allowed him to bring down the 3rd Kazekage known as the most powerful in Sunagakure's history. Sasori was also able to create a poisonous neuro toxin which was so advanced that no one besides Tsunade, or her most advanced pupil could create an antidote for it without a ratio chart and multiple days.
The fact that Sasori's human puppet body was 16, suggests he achieved all of these feats well before the age of 16, younger than naruto and sasuke currently, and only one or two years after the age at which Itachi unlocked his Mangekyou sharingan. These modifications to his body granted him the ability to manipulate more than 100 puppets at a single time, at least 10x more than any other puppet master to date, and 10x more than any person was thought capable of before.
Chiyo and sakura were arguably Sasori's worst match up. Chiyo, who was a puppet master in her own right knew the secrets of Sasori's techniques up until his use of his own body. She was also paired with sakura, whose own dodging abilities coupled with chiyo's manipulation control made her an impressive "puppet" whose potential is still unknown. Sakura, being a medical prodigy, was one of two people in the world able to counter Sasori's personal poison, which made any minor scratch received by him or his puppets, lethal and a one hit KO.
I can argue that maybe 10 people in the current narutoverse have the combined skills and abilities to take down sasori 1v1. People underrate him because he was literally paired with his worst match up in history, and was killed off early making people think he was weaker than anyone fought after him. According to that logic, zetsu is the strongest in the world because we haven't seen him fight yet. I just want some legitimate reasons for all of the Sasori hatred. He is one of my favorite characters in the manga.
