Gohan would have made a sweet main character if he was allowed to kill Super Buu, still a badass character though.
With where Akira is trying to go with BoG's though, Goku fits much better. Mainly because of the reignited rivalry between him and Vegeta, which I don't think a main character Gohan would match up to hype-wise.
