Because she had to be nerfed. She's already >>>>>>>> than Sakura, imagine if she had the Tenseiga, she would make her along with the rest of the females in NV even more fodder. :hint:
Hinata solos.

Because Sesshōmaru doesn't think she is worthy of having his sword

Technically Itachi never became Jonin either.

And during the 4th Shinobi War - Naruto and Sasuke were (technically) genin.

OP? Yes - being given chakra from the son of Kaguya, the sibling of the Sage of the Six Paths, and using it successfully does - in my mind - qualify as "OP" in the grand scheme of things.

If it makes you feel better, she is decended from Aliens.

Wow just wow! Unbelievable! Comparing Hinata who spent all her life in Konoha, with Itachi, who left the village as an Anbu...

The bias is real...

Other examples of people who didn't stay in the village long enough by then...

In my mind only qualifies as fanfiction and exaggerated hype, only supported by the same fanfiction.

If it makes you feel better, she is decended from Aliens.
Actually it doesn't... but whatever... I am feeling pretty good anyway.

Ah. I didn't think I had to spell it out - but I'll do just that, so you get the point.

Rank is not always a clear (truthful - accurate - valid) indicator of a character's skill/power level/abilities.

Itachi wasn't ranked Jonin, yet he far exceeded that skill level - officially he would have been chunin, seeing as ANBU is supposed to be secret.

Naruto spent time outside the village, yes. But he was part of the first chunin exam - so was Sasuke - and neither were promoted when one of their peers - Shikamaru - was.
It's not that they didn't have the oppertunity to gain a rank, it's not their skill or ability in the shinobi arts that held either one back - to become chunin they needed to display intelligence, strategy and other qualities desirable in a chunin - not power level.

Jonin, I can only assume - requires not just power, but skill in leadership that exceeds chunin level shinobi. Issues like confidence (or lack there of) could hinder a promotion. Again, it's not just about power/strength.

So my point is, regardless of Hinata's ability - her rank doesn't carry much weight in an argument for whether or not she is or is not OP or a strong/capable elite shinobi.

In my mind only qualifies as fanfiction and exaggerated hype, only supported by the same fanfiction.

Well, that's your prerogative. I'll take whatever cash cows are done in Kishimoto's name and not invalidated by the man himself as "canon".

Because he wasn´t in Konoha, he left the village very early.... If he had stayed, you and I know the story would have been a lot different...

Naruto spent time outside the village, yes. But he was part of the first chunin exam - so was Sasuke - and neither were promoted when one of their peers - Shikamaru - was.
Shikamaru was't promoted due to the Chunnin Exams, the exams were called off when the Sand and the Sound invaded Konoha.
Tsunade promoted him herself, and she wasn't even spectating the exams.
It's not that they didn't have the oppertunity to gain a rank, it's not their skill or ability in the shinobi arts that held either one back - to become chunin they needed to display intelligence, strategy and other qualities desirable in a chunin - not power level.
Due to plot they didn't, plot led the story to a different direction, but everybody knows they both have better skill than a Jounin, much better, monster-god-like... They don't need a rank, they are exceptions.
And that's not Hinata's case...
Jonin, I can only assume - requires not just power, but skill in leadership that exceeds chunin level shinobi. Issues like confidence (or lack there of) could hinder a promotion. Again, it's not just about power/strength.
That's your assumptions... not a fact. Kakashi was early promoted to Jounin and he was part of a team which the leader was a Jounin as well.
So my point is, regardless of Hinata's ability - her rank doesn't carry much weight in an argument for whether or not she is or is not OP or a strong/capable elite shinobi.
Easy to say for a fangirl of a character that stayed Chunnin for more than a decade...
I know she is not weak, but she is not that great either...
Well, that's your prerogative. I'll take whatever cash cows are done in Kishimoto's name and not invalidated by the man himself as "canon".
Good for you.

PD: Even considering that canon, she gain nothing more than a new chakra color and a new name for the same technique... period.

Bullsh*t.

It doesn't matter that he left. At that point, he exceeded what his official rank was. That is my point, regardless of anything else - his rank did not reflect his true capabilities.

"Due to plot they didn't" .... yes, plot. That is how stories generally work. It's shown, repeatedly that both Sasuke and Naruto failed to grasp basic concepts - like team work, for the majority of the time together which is considered, at least in Konoha, one of the most basic concepts nessessary for genin - never mind chunin or jonin, to grasp.

Even after Naruto returns from his trip, he still fails to display the basic requirements for a chunin promotion. If it was purely a question of power/skill/ability then he would have been promoted in Suna, or in the field - at any point - during Shippuden.

But he wasn't.

NOT BECAUSE HE WASN'T STRONG ENOUGH - BUT BECAUSE HE DIDN'T DISPLAY OTHER QUALITIES NESSESSARY FOR THE RANK.

Surprised you're using Kakashi as an example to support your flimsy argument. Kakashi was promoted to Jonin and then they did their first mission under his leadership which was Kanabi Bridge. In which Minato was his subordinate and then duly f*cked off elsewhere for the remainder of the mission.
What your point is, eludes me.

I'm an Itachi fan girl - that much should be obvious. Do I prefer Hinata over Sakura; yes - without a god damn doubt - but I am not a Hinata "fangirl". I could give zero f*cks about her in contrast to Itachi or Kakashi.

Her rank as chunin - for whatever period of time - has little basis on her power level. It does however reflect on her ability to lead others ... which given her history is hardly surprising.

If you look at the people who stayed in the village and actually completed the Chunin Exams the ranks end up being pretty accurate. Chouji, Kiba, and Shino are also still Chunin and I think we can agree they're not the strongest and deserve the rank. Kishi stated in an interview that he thought it would be funny if Naruto was the Hokage while still being a genin. If Naruto took the Chunin Exams again then he could be promoted to Chunin or he might even go straight to Jounin. All the people who left the village did not undergo the same process as everyone else so their ranks aren't accurate.

Jounin is not only based on leadership abilities. Rock Lee is also a Jounin yet we've never really seen him lead anyone. Jounin is a special rank that goes to shinobi who really deserve it. That's why there's no test for Jounin but there is one for Chunin. It's also based on feats and experience.

The wiki explains it pretty well:
Jonin are generally highly-experienced shinobi with great individual skill who serve as military captains. They are often sent on A-rank missions, and experienced jōnin may even be sent on S-rank missions (which are considered to be the greatest difficulty). It is not unusual for jōnin to go on missions alone. Jōnin are generally able to use at least two types of elemental chakra, proficient genjutsu, and decent taijutsu skills.

And obviously that last line does have some exceptions. Rock Lee doesn't know ninjutsu but he does have great skill in taijustu and experience.

He was an Anbu, that rank plays in a different ladder, a different institution.

Despite I strongly disagree about the qualities Naruto and Sasuke lack, which it's not the point, that is your assumption of what you need to have to become a Jounin, not the actual requirements, which are not as crystal clear as you make them sound, you are just coming up with stuff. What we know, is that Hinata didn't become a Jounin. And some other people from her generation did.

Even after Naruto returns from his trip, he still fails to display the basic requirements for a chunin promotion. If it was purely a question of power/skill/ability then he would have been promoted in Suna, or in the field - at any point - during Shippuden.

But the plot did't led that way, he never took the Chuunin exams, so we will never know. You are making conclusions out of your hypothetical example and you get mad at the results! How crazy are you?!
I repeat myself againg, Naruto and Sasuke are exceptions, everyone knows how powerful they are, they don't need a rank that proves it. Leading skills? Team work? ****** please, he is the Hokage.

Surprised you're using Kakashi as an example to support your flimsy argument. Kakashi was promoted to Jonin and then they did their first mission under his leadership which was Kanabi Bridge. In which Minato was his subordinate and then duly f*cked off elsewhere for the remainder of the mission.

Minato was never his subordinate, Minato was the one who gave the orders when and where to go, how to split and the mission of the Team Kakashi and himself, Kakashi only used his superb and temporary power to attack when he wanted, but what he only really wanted is to prove his new technique, and still he had to be saved by Minato, twice, how that counters anything here?
There are other examples like this one: when Shikamaru leaded the provisional 4 men team to rescue Sasuke not an actual team leader, when Neji became a Jounin and still he was part of a team lead by another Jounin.
I really don't get your point, It's not like Minato was out of the team or that he was substituted by Kakashi... lol

I really don't give a sh*t... You could have saved this part for yourself...

Her rank as chunin - for whatever period of time - has little basis on her power level. It does however reflect on her ability to lead others ... which given her history is hardly surprising.
This is still your assumption, but she does lead a clan and a family... so your point is flawed anyway...
