that, my friend, is absolutely not scientific. absolutely not.
lol

and religion is?
science is the closest we get to truth and because of that everything works as well.

Your posts consist solely of bashing and introducing biased sources for which you support no argumentation what so ever. Every time someone tries to make a point you write it off as bogus and throw your basic new-atheist mockery just as you do in this thread right now.

Great job at assuming what he believes and on what grounds he argues. I'd say that you lost your credibility at this point, but that would imply that you had any in the first place.

@bold: Congradulations, you don't know what science is.

If you put as much effort in actually hearing other people out as you do in bashing them and putting words in their mouth maybe you'd get somewhere, but eh, not much can be expected from a group whose ring-leader insists that the proper way to rationality is not in reasoning or debate but in mockery.

funny thing is im not even mocking or bashing, im just DESCRIBING religion. its not my fault they are ridiculous to begin with. and as i mentioned before its not even a debate. more like a beating.

You're presenting a very distorted view of religion and insisting that it represents the actual state of affairs. You do so without any argumentation throwing nothing but ad hominems left and right and indulging yourself in willingful ignorance as you do so.

You're a far cry from being rational.

is it even possible to be rational with religion, which pretty much could be a synonym to irrationality? its religion that throws rationality out the window. religion demands you to believe without any proof or evidence. thats whats called faith. and thats also one of the things which make it ridiculous. you cant say im irrational or biased, when all i do is describing it. the only reason religious people get offended is because they kinda realise how pathetic and ridiculous their faith and religion is, but since they hold it so dearly they go apeshit over the fact that i "dared to insult them and their religion"

Again, a mispresentation of what religion is. In response to religion being blind faith here's my take on that:

And in regards to rationality of belief in God as a coherent matter:

This on its own debunks your notion of religious people not thinking and being agents of irrationality. I'll leave you with that.

By the word "science", you mean mathematical and experimental sciences, is that it ? because science means knowledge, knowledge on a certain field of religion is also called "science of that field of religion".

but I think you were talking about experimental sciences.

let's talk about the scientific mind then.

a true scientific mind will overcome his fear of being wrong, and not keep himself safe with his set ideas and beliefs.

a true scientific mind will have the courage to say : what if religion is true ? or what if there is a % of truth in it ? what if god really exists ? what if what they tell us in school and what we see in movies isn't completly true ?

all of these questions will lead him to investigate rigorously religion, not only read some of the bible and generalize on all religions. he will have the courage to test his beliefs, in a honest way.

a true scientific mind doesn't simplify reality, he knows how infinitly complex it is. so he keeps very carefull with any intelectual practice. and always keeps himself critical about himself and his beliefs. all the time.

oh, and stop using so casually the word "religion", the religion FIELD is tooooo complexe for you to generalize it's knowledge in this clumsy way.

and your intepretation is the right one? says who?

btw there are studies that show, that religion kinda makes you dumb. religous people have a harder time to reason and to think critically. thats most likely because, as i said before, to be a true christian/muslim or whatever other religion, you must shut down your brain and are not allowed to question. once a person starts doing this, they eventually turn atheist. thats also why religions usually hate critiques and go even as far as to kill whoever thinks otherwise...

Someone gets it. Science literally means knowledge. Even the root word in Latin Scio/Scire means "To know" (Scio translates as "I know")

My presentation? You haven't even asked for it yet you're dismissing it. My "representation" is that which every serious thinker will take: religion is simply a mass of cultural, ethical and spiritual beliefs and codes of conduct and is as such neutral of all the sloppy claims you try to attach to it.

The very same studies you love to envoke are utterly oblivious to this. Religion makes noone dumb as it doesn't have the potency to do anything. Man is the one who makes man less or more intelligent than his present state and anyone who fails to recognise this has failed to grasp a very basic statement.

Until you have actually addressed any of the arguments I present your view is to be considered the one fundamentally flawed.

Yes, Allah is Merciful, but besides being Merciful, He is also JUST. Quran says, that Allah is never Unjust, not even in the least degree.
So, for Allah to be both Merciful and Just, He has to punish those who transgress and oppress others. For example someone commits rape or robs or kills someone, according to you that person should suffer no consequences? If that were to be the case then there would be no right or wrong, if God is to send everyone to Heaven irrespective of their deeds then this life becomes pointless.

Quran says that "Allah has created Life and Death to test which of you is best in deed". So every action has a consequence and the final recompensation will be paid on the day of judgement.

But it does not mean that if u have commited sin then there is no hope for you. So if you come to realize that you've made a mistake and commited sin then:
1st off, stop that act and repent
2nd promise to never do it again
3rd if you have caused harm to someone then you have to repay them (eye for eye, tooth for tooth and life for life unless the victim/heir forgives you or asks for blood money)

Qur'an, 2:178: "O you who have believed, prescribed for you is legal retribution (Qasas) for those murdered – the free for the free, the slave for the slave, and the female for the female. But whoever overlooks from his brother anything, then there should be a suitable follow-up and payment to him with good conduct. This is an alleviation from your Lord and a mercy. But whoever transgresses after that will have a painful punishment."

There is only one sin that Allah will never forgive and that is the sin of "Shirk"(associating partners with Allah) if you die in that state then yes, you will burn in hell for all eternity and you will have only yourself to blame for it.

Man, I'm sure late to the discussion, but I'll try jump in...

I don't think that God created hell to be a place that inflicts suffering upon those condemned there. Let me further explain. I will use my own faith as a baseline - Catholicism. First and foremost, Catholicism, as with all Christian religions MUST believe in a hell. If you are Christian, you believe that Jesus Christ was crucified and died to atone for the sins of all humanity. You believe that Jesus is the savior. Well, if Jesus is the savior, what exactly is he saving you from? <= He is saving you from an eternal damnation to hell. Now, back on to the main question at hand, Why would a loving God create a hell? He must create a place for those who choose to disobey his holy authority. If heaven is truly to be a realm in which no sin or evil exists, then there cannot be any being who exhibits any qualities of evil or malice; they must be sent somewhere else - hell. Hell is a place of suffering, but God did not make it to specifically be a place for suffering. People of faith believe that true joy, true love, and true peace can only come through God. Thus, a sense of perfect joy, love, and peace can only come through a perfect communion with God. Heaven is where this would take place. Here on earth, God we can experience bits and fragments of this true joy, because God chooses to communicate and interact with us, but never fully experience His perfect joy, love or peace because we cannot be in perfect communion with Him here on earth, which is why many religious preach about the "true joy" and "true rewards" in heaven. Hell is a place devoid of all traces of God, thus there is no joy, no love, and no peace. So, it isn't so much God has created this place specifically designed to torture souls, but rather, a place devoid of Himself, and thus devoid of all traces of joy, which causes suffering, because true suffering is a complete removal from God. I can expand on anything and answer any questions, also!

Dear, I've read lots of books to know what Hell is till I found my answer approximately and now you are asking for a simple answer on a site like this?!! Have you really researched it or are you just kidding us?

Ok, I would like to answer you right away but just don't have time to translate so many pages to English, thus, I'm going to find you a link to a fine resource or or copy-paste it here. I may even make anther thread but that's unlikely... so wait for me kids because I need to translate this book for you:

Here I come again;

I managed to pick up a few important lines and translated them for you:

The fire that burns in the Hell has been provided by us, ourselves. During our short life in this world we make our future in the next world. Right now, each time I commit a sin I'm actually starting that fire or increasing it. But if I go back to the right path, repent and ask God for forgiveness before my death arrives, then the effect of that sin will be cleared from my soul and I'll be clean again.
To reach Heaven, I've to pass a bridge. Beneath me will be Hell fire. But That fire won't touch me. They only affect sins I've gathered during my life in this world. Let's imagine that I'm a really good person but have told lies several times. The flames of Hell will reach those lies I'm carrying within me and burn them to clear my soul so that I can enter the Heaven because no one can enter there with a sinful soul. God is so kind and loving that helps me to live in Heaven for eternity even though I don't deserve that. That's why Hell is there to clean me from my sins that I've committed while knowing I'm providing fire for myself. Yet if I repent before death my soul will be clean and there won't be anything for flames to burn. And like this most of us will be saved and gain salvation.
Yet there are people whom even Hell fire can't clean them. They are full of awful sins and have repeated their dirty actions in the world till their soul have become one with sins. The fire of Hell burns their sins till a fine soul can be saved but unfortunately for them, nothing has remained to be salvaged. Therefore the burn in Hell for eternity because the have ruined themselves completely during their life time to the point that nothing can be saved out of them. God send angels to pull cleared souls out of Hell and take them to Heaven but if not even a tiny part of your soul can be cleared then how do you expect angels to take it out?!

Well, I briefed it as much as I could so I'm not sure if it's helpful or not. So feel free to ask more if it's confusing.
Thanks for your attention ~<3

God created hell on the same reason government build prison: to punish those who break the law. God created laws and expects people to abide by them - such as, do not murder, do not steal, do not commit adultery etc. Government create laws and expect people to abide by them - such as for all what been said and more. There is similarity in how authority deals with manners, expect one authority is almighty and the other is humanity.

According to the Holy Bible, God created Hell for the Devil and his angels, and for Sinners and those who are not saved. But why would a loving God do this? Why does He want His own creations to suffer for eternity in Hell? If He exists. I've done plenty of research on multiple religions. Each religion, more or less, seems to believe in a Hell or multiple Narakas. Why would such divine beings create such an agonizing place to be?

Why create Hell for people to suffer in for eternity? (Christianity, Judaism, Islam) or a near eternity (Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism)?

Is this Hell a true place that God created for us sinners to go to when we die? Is this Hell the Earth itself? Or is this a tool used since ancient times to control mankind out of fear?
Hell is were God present is not found or felt. God is the ultimate form of Good and Hell is the place were no Good can found were no hope can be found. God gave both Angles and Humans Free will, free will means we chose to obey or disobey God's laws. Hell is rule by the ultimate diner Satan who willingly disobey God and Angles and Humans who willingly disobey God end up their. Its proper and right Actions have consequences and God gave conditions for going to Heaven. Love God, Love your neighbor and obey Gods law you go to heaven. Do the opposite go to Hell. Jesus forgave sins on one condition "Go sin no more". Oh their no active liberal democrats in Heaven sines liberals claim are things are ok to dodo without repercussion. Remember you will face your accusers on judgment day including the child you aborted who will ask you Mommy Dady why did you have me kill? What wrong did I do to you?

Hell was intended for Satan and the Fallen angels. Hell was NOT created for man. However, when Adam sinned in the garden of eden, sin entered the world. Now man could go to hell if he died without a savior because he (just like the angels) is fallen. But God gave man a second chance which shows how much he loved us because he did not give the fallen angels (demons) a second chance. Those who looked toward the saviors coming in the Old Testament waited and sacrificed clean animals to cover their sins. Now that Jesus came to earth about 2,000 years ago his blood will cover whoever sins that accepts him as Lord and savior of their life and they will be changed forever. Wether you believe in the Bible or not, there are tons of NONBiblical accounts like Josephus who talk of a man named Jesus who did great wonders, died on a cross, and his tomb was empty so Jesus did walk on this earth whether you believe the Bible or not. Jesus is mankinds redemption from eternal damnation. That's why God is a loving God. He sent his only son to die on a cross for his fallen creation so they can be redeemed. But God is also a just God that is why there is a penalty for sin which is death but Jesus is the only way to the Father. YES God is loving but God IS JUST. He is righteous and holy and cannot dwell with sin so that's why Jesus died on the cross so that whoever comes to him WILL be saved.

Actually if you study the bible, humans will not burn forever in an ever-burning hell.
The bible talks of the lake of fire where the wicked will be stubble (they will burn to ashes, not forever). Malachi 4:1.
It is an act of mercy. Rather than torturing them forever.
The result of that punishment (Matthew 25:46) is eternal. i.e. the death is permanent. That is why it is called eternal punishment.

My conception of God is the entire universe. Basically all creation is God. Whether it be good, bad or neutral it's all a part of God. Every element plays a role and has an essence in the cycle of Creation, Preservation and Destruction. This is the Universe.

When you reject God, you reject all creation. When you do this only the emptiness will remain. That emptiness aka The Void is what is called Hell. When we reject God, we do it out of Free Will. Thus if we reject God, we embrace the Void and go to Hell. God cannot influence our decisions so he waits for us to change our minds. When we do, he will welcome up with his open arms always. Satan and his followers went to Hell because they rejected God. Now it's not evil to reject God, but when you do, you live in emptiness and as such your entire existence kinda loses it's meaning.

Hell is not a location, it is a state of mind. To support this I will quote Satan's words :-

“The mind is its own place, and in itself / Can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven. / What matter where, if I be still the same...”

If you accept God, the source of Creation your mind will be in eternal bliss and will be in Paradise. If you reject God and all creation your mind will be in eternal torment of the Void, i.e; Hell.

As an example, go outside and see the Beauty of Nature. The moment you pay attention, you mind will be in extreme bliss. That is how you accept God and reach the state of Paradise. On the contrary shut yourself off in a dark room. You can see nothing and your mind will be plunged in the Void. You become sad and depressed. That's Hell.

I hope this helped !
