This is the last time I ever debate religion. Nothing good comes from this kind of threads except burning your head. Let people be.

I've been thinking...... just thinking to become... you know... Darth -- Vader.Speaking in absolutes...plus a burning head...are you aspiring to become Darth Vader?![]()
LOL First you guess he'll ignore/deny/dodge these, then you guess he'll come up with explanations which you call 'excuses'. Contradiction much? See, it's you ignoring facts and reason, as whatever he says, you're already dismissing it in advance as an 'excuse'. You render any reasonable discourse void. Plus, I can also just link you to apologetic sites which deal with the rebuttal to every single claim wikiislam makes. You must be registered for see linksYou must be registered for see links
And yeah, it's often just a matter of translation or interpretation, you denying and ignoring the importance of translation and interpretation doesn't make them any less relevant. Also, it's exactly by using reason that one can interpret a text so your formula is expressing a false dilemma.
Tbh I've always found both Answering Islam and Answering Christianity as extremely dumb.
Add RationalWiki to the list of dumb sites.
Tbh, most popular sites on these topics aren't very good.
Tbh I've always found both Answering Islam and Answering Christianity as extremely dumb.
Well, Answering Islam came first, to my knowledge, and Answering Christianity is just a response site to lies spread by David Wood, Sam Shamoun and the likes at Acts17Apologetics. (And that's why I told you I don't like Nabeel Qureshi either coz he is connected to that circle).
Other than that, I don't find them that dumb; people are colliding arguments. That's what all apologists do, including the best ones like WLC, it's just they do it on another level. Like, I've seen a debate once between Wood and a guy running Answering Islam, and I must say the muslim bro wasn't really at his best...like, he was only talking about how ISIS is a Mosad creation xD I was kinda embarrassed so I looked up myself every single claim of Wood and posted a 20 pages long rebuttal to which I didn't get any response of course. So yeah, I can do research on my own, no need to resort to such sites, but when folks like Arian link pages like wikiislam, I think it's legit to couner it with another link; it's not like I'm gonna refute all that bs one by one myself when others have already done so. Even if I'd take a different approach at some stuff. Especially the style...I agree that I never really understood why does one feel the need to promote his own faith by bashing another faith...Sure, it's one thing to tell one's point of view and why the person adheres to one faith while rejects another, but no need to make a contest out of who can make the other look worse. In that sense, these sites are dumb, but there is still value in many, if not most of their arguments because they do a lot of research after all and one could use them from time to time.
Anyway there was a really dumb thing I saw...can't remember the guy's name...more precisely, he is using a nickname...so he presented a challenge that he'd pay 50000 dollars to whoever refutes any of the accusations he makes about islam xD And of course he never paid anyone coz he never accepted any of the counters. smh
For all I know, more precisely, it is a fact, that Wood has some degree in philosophy and theology...or one of those things (I'm lazy to check right now), and he is doing his Phd...maybe he's already got it. I acknowledge he is a talented debater and he did good even against Shabir Ally...but at other times he ( I mean, Wood) pretty much lost, and he is running some vlog to mock muslims and gibe our Prophet. But I don't pay much mind to it, at least not anymore, let him be. It's kinda ridiculous how he once dressed up as a woman only to make a futile point based on his misunderstanding or purposeful mispresentation of the islamic texts and culture. Whatever. I consider him a clown.Well yeah, the folks at Acts17Apologetics aren't the best you can find out there. To be completely honest, even as a Christian, I can't understand how the best Islamic apologists like Shabir Ally or Ali Ataie take David Wood seriously. Of course Wood's level of preparation is above the average and I'm the first one to admit he sometimes makes good points (check the videos in which he corrects the false accusations to the Bible made by Muslims or atheists alike), but he's not a philosopher, or a theologian or a New Testament scholar, he's just one whose hobby is to study comparative religion and, well, to bash Muslims. He's got some undeniable talent in public speaking and debating though.
My problem is that Nabeel was an ahmadiyya plus I don't like people in general who make money and fame mostly because they happened to be a member of a different religion and now they sell their conversion story as if it was part of the holy canon. (Just my 2 cents...you don't have to agree. )On the other hand Nabeel has pretty good credentials, and has the advantage to be a convert from Islam and to be a former amateur Muslim debater. Not that this would justify him if he speaks falsehoods anyway.
Hmm yeah it's kinda misleading. As for Answering Christianity, I feel like the name is already misleading. Maybe if it were an atheist website like Debunking Christianity it would make sense, but I don't think it really "answers" Christianity, but just provides rebuttals to claims made by critics of Islam and displays the classic Israel-root-of-all-evil that you described.
Uhm...just like Answering Islam does with the Quran? The only thing that it does to attack Christianity in itself is to cherry pick verses from the Bible out of context to show how unscientific they supposedly are, or to play the typical Bible-corrupted card.
Probably. But don't worry, I didn't lose sleep over it xD Anyway once he actually answered. It was under a video of his on...what was her name...Zakia smtg..maybe..the girl who trolled an anti-islam protest then it turned out she also posted anti-jewish stuff on her twitter...Long story short Wood was pointing out media bias and double standards and I pointed out some of his double standards in return. He only answered once tho, then dozens of his fans jumped at my neck so I just left xdAs for your reply to Wood's claims I'm sorry he didn't answer you but, as he says, he receives plenty of messages every day from Muslims, so it's probable that he didn't even see it.
The guy you talk about reminds me of a certain young earth creationist whose name I can't remember (maybe it was Kent Hovind), who promised a similar amount of money to anyone who can convince him that evolution is real, and of course nobody has ever been able to satisfy his criteria xD

Didn't hear about him tho o.o
I'm not bothered with bashing on Islam and Muslims.Exactly, religious threads are pointless, cuz the atheists just do it to bash on religion, most of the time the atheists make these threads, I'm a muslim, and i am religious cuz i dont wanna go to hell with i think exists, why i think that is beside the point for any atheist cuz its not your problem, and if you are in the slightest interested, dont come to an anime site seeking answers, i dont care if you're atheists, live your life and i live mine
Well, they are to islam as mormons are to christians...kind of.An Iranian girl explained me what Ahmadiyyas are and now I almost forgot everything..
I know, I just don't like when someone is making money and fame out of selling his background. I could write my conversion story too and it's even more interesting imo than that of Wood or Nabeel...given that I have a sectarian christian family background plus I myself was an atheist for like a decade...etc. But I think it's noone's business what my family was/is like and what other anomalies I saw at that denomination...Anyway well, many proponent of a certain ideology are converts from a somehow opposed one (David Wood himself used to be an atheist).
Yeah I know, but they could do it without bashing someone else's faithAnyway here we're both being malicious, maybe all these antiheroes really feel like they have an important message to share with the people

Maybe xdWell, maybe Wood, Shamoun and the others influenced them and now they behave just like them, but against them... Maybe Arian got influenced by those two websites as well, who knows xd
Hmm yeah.I personally have a personal rule, and it is to never take too seriously anyone who surrounds himself with fundamentalist and intolerant folks, you rarely learn something good by individual like those, no matter the ideology they promote. By their fruits you'll recognize them (Matt 7:16)
Well saidbecause if someone been easily convinced on something, they can easily drop it after a while.
