this one isn't easy
..I would probably go with Kakashi.. He's a genius.
Meaning he would take advantage because of his ability to judge any given situation and his opponents abilities. So even if Kisame was stronger on paper, Kakashi would come out on top of him

If we see kakashi fight like he does in th manga Kisame will win but If we compare abilitys kakashi will win let me explain this a little
In the manga kakashi almost waits for the last second to use kumoi(spelling)
and he almost always uses it defensivly but If kakashi used his kumoi at the beggining of battle to teleport Samehada away kakashi would win easly Kisame is strong and all but he cant beat kakashi without samehada

It depends if Kakashi can get Kisame without Samehada.
Kakashi's sharingan isn't much of an advantage since Kisame WAS Itachi's partner and most partnerings in Akatsuki were well thought out and the members were of equal strength.
Kisame has much more chakra then Kakashi but most of his jutsu requires his sword. Kakashi is a quick thinker and tries to determine weaknesses before a full assault. If Kakashi figures out his flaw, then he may have a chance in beating him. Not to mention Kakashi has the uperhand in elemental balence since he's a lightning user and Kisame seems to be water.

Hypothetically speaking it would be Kisame's unique fighting style + Samehada. But if it would really happen in the manga Kakashi would win probably with help from someone.
i think that kakashi can win kisame because of the nature chakra and the sharingan kakashi has...his nature is lightning and the sharingan is very powerful...we must also consider that kakashi has awakned his MS...so i think that kakashi probably win

Well Itachi did say that fighting kakashi, Kisame would suffer unnecessary injuries. But then again a clone of kisame with 30% chakra forced Gai(who could be much stronger than Kakashi) to open 6 gates in order to defeat the clone. Plus the Killerbee fight, Killerbee was protecting his friends but he was lucky since Kisame was doing an infiltration mission and wasn't sent to capture the 8 tails right away. So a with no distractions and no other side missions, Kisame would win against Kakashi, since Kakashi uses high level techniques that take allot of chakra, he would tire out really fast, and if kumai was used on Kisame, he would just regenerate himself using the stored chakra in Samehada. .

Kakashi is a genius but with Kisame's Bijuu size Chakra, Kisame will defeat Kakashi.....
lets remember that even with a Sharingan, Kakashi tires easily while using it....
but it will be a long and awesome fight... ^_^
I think kisame would win, as he has lots of chakra [ a person with a tail without a tailed beast ], kakashi is smart but all those tech he using require quite a amount of chakra so he would tire himself out easily plus kisame would suck his chakra out
