It really isn't obvious, he has shown the ability to destroy the clones with two hits at best what exactly are they going to accomplish up close against him when they can't even take 3 hits from him? I really don't get the logic with this, its almost as easy for Luffy to fight these clones in G4 as it is for him to fight a Pacifista in base, what's a gang of them going to do? That's why I don't think the clash between him and the clones lasted that long in manga time.
Dude I've looked at that scan plenty of times they were close but they weren't right up on him, they were still far enough for him to use the Kong organ attack, hell they were still a good enough distance away that Luffys arms were stretched out. They're shields don't protect them from getting two shotted, did you even watch the beginning of the fight? Luffy literally broke the shield and nearly koed the clone all at the same time.

[/GLOW]This clone had 4 shields all on its own, they were all destroyed from this one hit.
And Cracker couldn't even land a hit on a Luffy who had his attention focused elsewhere, the only time Cracker got a legitimate hit on Luffy was when he jumped out that clone and Luffy had no idea he was the real Cracker. They're even in that regard as when attention was focused on each other neither landed a hit. He spent those 11 hours trying to replenish his stamina, we don't even know for sure if he was using G4 in that time period for all we know he was trying to think of a way to get to get the real Cracker out of hiding. Its unlikely to me he used G4 within that period because Nami made crackers soldiers useless so there wouldn't be no way for him to defend him self from G4 during that period so he probably wasn't in the mode but rather eating and fighting the clones after Nami soaked them in order to get the mode back.
