Its a tough call between those two, but i'd go with Minato .​

Itachi = Can get into Konoha without triggering the barrier

Cuz Itachi worked under ANBU and knows how to enter [Hiruzen kept it that way since, Itachi has the ability to keep an eye on Sasuke and guard him from Danzo - Not sure where it was mentioned] .​

Minato has far more talent than itachi because of the simple fact that Minato has no free kekke genkai while itachi does, yet Minato still is stronger than itachi.


yet the sharingan isnʻt a clan ʻtalentʻ itʻs a clan ability that was given to itachi. If we are evaluating both shinobi based on pure talent, you have to factor out things that make one more powerful that were granted to them by genetics, so things like kekke genkai and bijuu are restricted.

Minato mastered hiraishin, created rasengan, mastered sealing techs, learned senjutsu control to an extent (which very few are capable of), became Hokage at a very young age, and was regarded as the child of prophecy by Jiraiya.

Itachi is extremely talented as well but Minato simply was able to accomplish more in terms of learning and creating jutsu. Itachi's main capabilities come from the mangekyou (which honestly are easy to master as an Uchiha) and spirit weapons he obtained.

Itachi is more wise than Minato but Minato is the better analyst

Well when Ninato was young he single handily stopped Cloud ninjas from kidnapping Kushina, he fought A and Bee (2 strong Kage level ninjas) on more than one occasion and Bee even trembled when Naruto mentioned Minato, he wiped out platoons in the 3rd war in seconds, and Hiruzen gave Naruto his mom last name even though the Uzumaki clan was nearly wiped out due to others fearing their powerful sealing jutsus instead of giving Naruti Minato's last name because he didn't want Minato's enemy knowing Naruto was Minato's kid.

I would say minato simply because he took out an entire army of stone ninja alone not to mention he trained the leafs best ninja who trained itachi in the anbu black ops

Genetics are merely a part of what makes you who you are.

If the thread is comparing how talented both shinobi are, then obviously youʻd take away genetics. If the thread was about whoʻs more powerful or whoʻd win in a fight, sure Itachi gets his kekke genkai just like shaq would get his height.

to those stating minato is superior because he had no kkg and his natural talent outshines itachis. remeber that itachi was heralded as a genius even before he had awakened his sharingan.

for that reason i feel the victor in a literal talent contest would be itachi. he is the only character that can literally put you under genjutsu with one finger.

nothing you talked about had anything to do with raw talent.

1.nagato took out an entire villiage without raw talent (borrowed rinnegan)
2.many untalented ninja train talented ninja at one point or another.

neither of those accomplishments proves you have talent

Jiraiya also said they haven't had a genius like Minato since Minato and at that point 16 years passed yet no one was deemed to be like Minato. Itachi was born when Minato was alive and Jiraiya knows about Itachi as he did spy on Akatsuki and on Itachi from his ties with Konoha. Tsunade never disagreed with this either and we do see her disagree with Jiraiya when he say something she doesn't agree with such as when he said no one could replace her as Hokage and she said there's Kakashi and a Naruto with some time.
