I do think this is Itachi's to take. It's a close call though, both are geniuses who don't come around. It's just that since we know more of Itachi, we know that he's been talented from a very young age.

only reason he was able to that was because he was not a enemy of Konaha the barrier is there to detect people who claim harm in the village

Minato has far more talent than itachi because of the simple fact that Minato has no free kekke genkai while itachi does, yet Minato still is stronger than itachi.

yet the sharingan isnʻt a clan ʻtalentʻ itʻs a clan ability that was given to itachi. If we are evaluating both shinobi based on pure talent, you have to factor out things that make one more powerful that were granted to them by genetics, so things like kekke genkai and bijuu are restricted.
