He forced Itachi to make that choice, and he made sure it was carried out. No matter how you put it, it was because of Danzo that the war was prevented, if Itachi had been on his own he would have most likely joined the Uchiha's which would have led to a Civil War.

Obviously a coup by the villages police force would lead to a CIVIL WAR...whether it would lead to a war between the villages is debateable, but I personally believe that considering the way the villages seemed to be at those times, they would have attacked Konoha, and the World War that was predicted would happen. I believe it would have, so when I take into account Danzo's acts for the village, I add that as well.

nah. coup leading to war is dependent on the leader of the villages.. Sarutobi would have handled it nice. And also Uchiha loved the village just hated the governing party

Now if the uchiha had took control in governing the village .. Danzo's power would have been shrunk. ^.^ therefore leading Danzo powerless. Danzo did not like the uchiha.. Therefore he ordered that even kids who did not know about the coup would be killed. But i don't take that into account when judging what he has done for the village.

Yeah but you're missing the point lol. Yeah it never would have happened if he didn't invade, But Tobi's intentions was not to destroy the Leaf, nor did he expect Minato to take it from him. Soo, in actuality, the Leaf wasn't in danger of being totally destroyed until Minato took it from his control. Minato's act of freeing it from Tobi is what put the the village at risk of annihiliation, buuuut, he did fix that on his own. But that has little to do with Tobi. And Yeah they had many ninja to defend, but it wasn't Tobi's plans to kill them all.


I doubt that would have done any good, Danzo and the elders would have come to the conclusion that it was an Uchiha in a mask, even Minato wasn't 100% sure....

Sarutobi on the other hand..he was well respected (Though every Hokage was respected, Minato wasn't noted for anything other than dying for the village and all he did right before his death), and had lots of experience as Hokage, but yet was still forced to let the massacre go through. To add even more, the elders were on the same team as Sarutobi, and showed respect for him even then. Sarutobi had great influence, and to add even MORE, you yourself say that "He's repsonsible for bringing tthe Leaf to it's prime."

I'm not saying that it didn't have to happen, just that Minato was the one who put the village at risk of total annihilation at THAT time. Lol weakest village?! I guess having a baby jonchuuriki which is the same as not having and a old hookage makes the village weaker than having two hokages. And huh? And no, you're missing the point. They wouldn't be positve that it was Madara. Minato wasn' even sure, this is completely different from when Tsunade rebeled against them. We're talking a potential threat from within the village, they would have segregrated them just to be sure lol. And from there, the coup de ta. Minato's knowing of Mitsuku wouldn't have done anything. One of the reasons why Saru probably failed is because he couldn't just walk upp and sayj oh we know about your plans lol. He most likely had to negotiate through Itachi, and obviously they didn't want ANY negotations! This is why Itachi became fed up with them. They were so stubborn.
