Naruto has the potential because he has wind element which is stronger than lightning. The only thing he need his to release a large amount of wind. I am pretty sure that Kishi is the one who established this logic, and he will not make Naruto stay around and watch Kirin. Actually, Naruto's Fuiton Rasenchuriken will stop it in the same way Rasengan can stop Chidori.

I am 100% positive that Temari will return the Kirin back to Sasuke. He Wind style is very strong.
