Kirin is higher in speed, accuracy, pin-point power and it cannot be avoided...not by normal means anyway. However it's weakness is it's set-up time and the conditions required for it to be effective. Futon Rasen Shuriken is not as fast, the accuracy is dependent on the user and the chances of avoiding it are higher, it's power is high but not as high as Kirin, it is however versatile as by the right user it can be thrown, retrieved and thrown again, it does damaged to a wide area but the true power of this jutsu is the certain damage it will deal to an opponent once it hits...aside from the physical damage...it will utterly destroy the opponents chakra network. 2-Rasenshuriken its dengerous because it sends an amount of miscroscopic needles, witch tsunade had categorized it as poison.

He did but yata is part of Susano'o. So he can also use Yata in the earlier forms as well. He probably got hit with kirin before throwing up Susano'o and yata to block the rest.
