I came here to say Shino Aburame.

Before anyone says that Shino would die with Kankuro, and Kankuro went off alive, well that's not true. First of all, Kishimoto made Kankuro, Temari and Gaara come alive out of it because he wanted the Sand Trio to join the good side at later part of the series. If they were true villains, Shino would kill him at that point (Eaten by bugs).

Second of all, if not for Temari, Kankuro would have been totally dead as well:

Minato lost to the Masked Man. I've explained this one, sure he got like one hit on the Masked Man but he ultimately got killed and Masked Man got everything he wanted from the situation and won.

a smart and tough man once told me......if you have never been knocked out its because you have never fought above your level

meaning if you ave never lost its because you never took the strecth to fight somone better ( this only applies to real life tho)

Kimimaro- Died of illness before killing Gaara. He wasnt killed, nor murdered.
At best you can call this a draw.

Itachi- He did not lose, or planned losing, he just died in front of Sasuke.

But if you call death by illness a lose, then the only one who
should have credit for defeating them its the illness itself.

They both achieved their goals. They choose to die for the future, Itachi to help Sasuke get MS/EMS since he was gonna die anyway, and Minato for the village and Naruto future, and allow Kushina to see Naruto again. Their win relied on dieing, simply as that.
Tobi also had the goal to keep the kyuubi and destroy the village, how come he got everything he wanted!?!?

Going by that logic Madara won his fight with Hashirama. Which simply is not true. This thread is focusing on material victories, not controversial 'i chose to die cos the futur' guys who are oh too perfect to actually straight-up lose a fight, debates about whether Itachi technically won etc. dont belong in this thread. I'm just saying, it couldn't have been much of a good plan if the plan results in you dying. (Otherwise known as losing) Itachi died, he lost the battle. It's not being counted.

Kimimaro granted I may have to go back and rewatch, though he was pushed into death by Gaara it's likely the disease technically got him I guess, but as that was Kimimaro's only real fight its still not very impressive, he still counts though.

Masked Man got what he wanted, his attack resulted in the hokage of the hidden leaf and the ninetails jinchuriki dying, he messed up the village pretty bad, killed a lot of ninja and caused the suspicion of the Uchiha which ultimately lead to them being murdered. If you call Minato sealing a demon fox inside his own son a victory, it's not- it was more of a resort. Minato went out like a boss and the Masked Man may have had to retreat but the Masked Man ultimately won.

numbers, I get what you're saying and in the end is all a matter of perspective!
In a way they did loose, but personally find it hard to count it as loose something that was planned for, and they could have easily been more selfish (like tobi) and walked away alive.
No point taking this debate further I think, even cause you're not wrong in the way you wanna call it a loose, as I don't believe I'm wrong in the way I wanna call it a win
