1. There is no empirical evidence providing the existence of any deity, except in psychological anomalies people contain in their heads.
2. There are restrictions in certain religions that are just plain wrong and serve no purpose. Sharia Law is just plain wrong. Blue Laws are just plain wrong. If you are an Atheist, you are no longer bound to these wrong laws and can live your life how you wish, within the bounds of actual, constitutional law.
3. Being in Atheist today is currently hardship, because many people today view Atheists in a negative light. Maybe not so much as homosexuals or Muslims, but there are still times where we are attacked and verbally abused on the streets. However, compared to homosexuals or Muslims, the media view Atheists as being "the most untrustworthy demographic".
4. Religion brings people together and provides for those who are less fortunate. It doesn't mean that any group can't do this, but it just so happens that organizations that do this are also religious.
5. Personally being attacked by religious folk, being converted to religion at a young age and still being attacked by religious folk, realizing that the top leaders of religion in today's society are holding back progress, understanding Science and how it pertains to the universe we actually know.
