Sasuke beat Deidara, high power and crazy jutsu, and Itachi, powerful doujutsu user. And before you say that Itachi wasn't going for the kill, remember that neither was Nagato...

Point is both Naruto and Sasuke seemingly surpassed Kakashi when they defeated their first akatsuki members.

and what about tsukiyomi and susanoo? Remember that while fighting agaisnt kakashi, itachi just made an eye contact and its over.
