So i guess i'd tell them no and invite them to confess or something

I believe that the authorities can't put charges on a priest. A killer can tell everything to his lawyer, but yet that lawyer has no right to tell anyone what he's been told. Same goes with the priest.

Yeah if i were the priest i would'nt say anything. If they asked me if i knew anything about the thief i'd say "Lord knows if there was a thief like that or not". Cuz the Lord does know, however i never said that i don't, lol. That or sth like what elmage ^ said.

There's a similar story in the bible, and there, the preacher hid the thief from the guards.
