im pretty sure it's the anime cuz lets say both naruto anime and manga version are realsed at the same time...im pretty sure no one will read the Manga version and will watch it anime version...

same be said on all other mangas.. its the anime what makes poeple read the Manga...

i call the Manga "the spoiler of anime"...thus i read the Manga becuz i am forced to!!!

Sometimes the anime ruins the story with deviations or tooo much gore censoring(Berserk, tokyo ghoul, gantz, etc) or that white light of censor at the important "Plot" points. :p

It was already popular in Japan from the manga but developed most of its international fandom through the anime which would air on Toonami/Cartoon Network/etc (depends on which country).

After part one finished airing then many people heard about the manga and decided to continue the story that way.

Anime was indeed a gateway to the manga for many outside of Japan.

The anime. I think if you asked people what the best part of Naruto is, a large majority would say the fights. The manga was never stellar in that regard, but the anime had quite a lot of really well choreographed fights.

There was also the fact that there was lots of mystery.
