I don't think Naruto can save Itachi. Sasuke was a different story, but he also repented for most of his sins in saving the World.

Itachi on the other-hand ... Just doing what he did for the sake of his brother doesn't automatically make him neighbor material lol.

His biggest sin killing the clan was orders from his own village, so was him joining the Aakatsuki, he'd be let in the village.

They wouldn't. The only reason why I used that logic was because Kakashi made note to make sure that the only reason why Sasuke was allowed to stay out of jail was because of Kakashi, Naruto, and his war efforts.

In the people's eyes Sasuke was somewhere along the middle. He took out a few Akatsuki members, his murderous brother, and Orochimaru. Though he did lose himself during the Kage summit, and during the Revolution Arc (despite this not being mentioned by Kakashi or Naruto, so it's not clear if anyone knew about this).

Compared to Itachi, most of his repentance was shown through the eyes of the shinobi world he protected. Itachi on the other hand was literally shown working through the shadows.

Either way I'll go with what I said before, and with what you said. I do think it has to do with the people, even you said it yourself. In the people's eyes Sasuke wasn't entirely justified with what he did, however, he isn't in the same stance as Itachi. Especially with what limited information Itachi leaked about what he was doing. And like with what you proposed, the Other Villages wouldn't like this idea either way.
