Apparently only Indra riencarnates can obtain the EMS. Other Uchiha tried and failed.
Naruto originally wasn't even about ninja and became one because of Sasuke.
"Q1: ”I’ve always wondered where you began to come up with the concept of ‘Naruto’ as a story and thought that that’s what yoou’d write about.”A: Apparently he started out wanting to write a story about an old guy who owns a ramen shop and a young boy comes by, or something uninteresting like that. Other things also got mixed in with that like a story which was supposed to be really spectacular and it was about straightening up their lives and other emotive plots… He showed that to his publishers but they told him the story is way too far from what they want, and Kobayashi agrees that it doesn’t have any elements befitting a weekly Shounen Jump series. He started to research other shounen series (especially Akira Toriyama, who he was a big fan of). In the end the name ‘Naruto’ came from this failed story attempt, as well as the obvious influences that made it into the actual series. Then he made a story not about ninjas but about youkai (demons), where the main character was a fox who shape-shifted into a human. This story changed again so he made the fox demon into a human and redrew the whole thing, and submitted that version"
"So why ninja in the first place? Kishimoto notes the inspiration of Sasuke, an anime series based on the manga created by Shirato Sanpei. But what really inspired him as a manga artist, he says, was Toriyama Akira’s Dragon Ball."
Naruto was heavily inspired by classic ninja manga, which like Naruto, are heavily inspired by Japanese folklore.
For example there's "Sasuke" & "Kamui", two 1960s manga by Sanpei Shirato. An anime called, "Manga Sarutobi Sasuke", aired on Tv during Kishimoto's childhood. The Sasuke in that series even has a female companion named Sakura.
Kamui is about a rogue ninja who leaves his village and is hunted by his own clan...Sasuke is a story about a boy ninja whose clan is wiped out by another ninja clan who murder his mother who he then fights against seeking vengeance...sound familiar?
Scroll down to "notable works".
A good example of folklore would be, "Tale of the Gallant Jiraiya”, in which Orochimaru, Jiraiya, Tsunade, & even the Sharingan originally appeared. Jiraiya and Tsunade's clans were slain due to being accused of planning a Coup de etat...sound familiar?
There's different versions of the story. Jiraiya had the Sharingan in one of them. Skip down to "Q4", and read the second paragraph.

Not really, and before you bring me some of Kishi's quotes (saying that the manga would've probably ended if he didn't add something interesting to it soon), that was basically what he "thought" would've happened, nobody knows how popular Naruto would've turned out in the end without Sasuke, it might have been far more popular, who knows really? + characters like Kakashi and Gaara were going to save it eventually, so.... u-u
You couldn't be anymore wrong. Only deluded trolls would think such a thing, which fits given who you are. :lol
Actually it's been confirmed that Sasuke the character had nothing to do with the series survival early on. It was rivalry. Switch Sasuke with someone like Neji or Gaara and boom, series continues to be successful. Probably even more so.
Still, Vulpini and Salamander are known trolls so I wouldn't be surprised that they actually believe the nonsense they type.
Terrible opinion.
This is better.
Agreed.
It most definitely did. As long as there was rivalry. Sasuke didn't matter.
OT : As others have said Itachi could've killed him early on and taken his eyes, though he'd probably still succumb to his illness.
