If you have seen it, it's on netflix. I think video game movies and movies based on anime/manga must be really hard to adapt into live action but I thought this was a better attempt than I expected it to be.

I've seen like the first 10 minutes.....It just doesn't sit well with me:noes:
Did you guys like it?
I liked parts of it but I have a really low bar. No spoilers but they crammed alot from the anime/manga into like one short movie so a lot happens really quickly. I figured the opinions of people on an anime forum would be good.

You think it's worth watching saw the trailer and looked cool but I think as a short movie the story will be ruined

Its the new Dragonball Evolution. It failed horribly as an adaptation and was equally as horrible as a movie in its own right—there were some scenes that were on par with The Room. Horrible writing, horrible acting, literally every character is an idiot, L gets so emotional to the point that he starts acting without thinking, Light is the definition of teen angst (and the definition of an idiot), Mi(s)a is also the definition of teen angst (and an idiot), and so on. The only thing that I liked was Willem Dafoe as Ryuk but considering Ryuk was only in the movie for maybe 10 minutes and how they used Ryuk was also stupid, that really doesn't say much.

Long live Lord Kira !!!! The ending is phenomenal.

Good movie way better than the Japanese movie garbage. If you are an Otaku fap you won't like the movie but if you go into it as a normal movie you will like it.

Watch it as a regular Hollywood flick with Death note then it's ok-ish.

If you are looking for original personalities or plot because of similar names, then you will be disappointed. It seems they didn't find Light from the manga acceptable in US and subsequently didn't know what to do with L. L seems ok in the first part then becomes regular Hollywood movie detective
loosing his temper running wild with a gun, chasing Light in a car.

They get the money and it's promotion for them either way. So that's moot.

I finally watched it yesterday. I was about to stop it because the first few minutes seemed like a generic angsty teen movie. Light and Mia's relationship developed too fast. XD The only resemblance to the original was the Death Note notebook. :lol Everything else was changed drastically, from character's personalities to plot points. It's watchable as long as you don't try to compare it too much to the original manga/anime.
