What do you think Obito's relationship with Minato was like?

I think they almost had a father-son type relationship. Out of all his students, a into seemed to be closest to Obito, and was clearly extremely hurt when he realized it was Obito that attacked Konoha on the night of Naruto's birth, not to mention the way Obito says "sensei" in the moment seems like he was either feeling some regret or was at least taken aback.

I honestly think that Obito may have viewed Minato as the father he had never had. All of their moments prior to his transformation into Tobi were positive, with Minato passing on fatherly advice to him, not to mention, Obito is clearly shown seeking him out many times. One of my favorite moments between the two was when Minato asked Obito if he loved Rin, and simply assured him that all would be well, I could see a father telling his son something along those lines.

Obito is also clearly shown to see him as something of a protector, such as freaking out when he wasn't there to protect Kakashi and Rin. I think, in large part, his bitterness towards Minato was for, in his mind, not being there. He wasn't there to save Rin, he wasn't even there to save him back when he nearly died. He sounds like a child that feels his father failed him through being absent, like a father that always misses his son's baseball game. He even mentions at one point that Minato didn't even recognize him the night he attacked. I think the meaning behind this was in a "how could you not so much as recognize me" sort of way. I think he was wistful, with the implication being that maybe Minato could have talked him out of what he was doing, if only he'd recognized him. Later on, when he says that he's happy that Minato failed as a hokage, it seemed as if something a child would say in rebellion to a parent, basically "you failed so I don't have to become you".

So, basically, I think the pair had a father-son relationship, with Obito viewing Minato as a father (I think he still did even after becoming Tobi) and Minato seeing Obito as something of a son, prior to Naruto's birth (and! based their interactions during the war arc! perhaps after as well). What do you think?

Chapter 636 or 637, when he uses FTG in an attempt to halt Madara's resurrection.

I didn't even read your opening post since its full of text. I will say this much though, Minata thought Obito was a good kid. If there was ever a time he wanted to raise one. Than it was the time he saw Obito. I believe Kishi's listened to Minato's wish. To give him a kid who looks similar to Obito. Hence Naruto was born.

Father-son relationship? A son doesnt kill his father's wife.

The relationship could change, just because you view someone some way doesn't mean you always will. For example, Sasuke loved Itachi at first, then he wanted to kill him, then he became obsessed with him. Another example, Anakin viewed Obi-Wan as a father, and then as a brother, yet he personally tried to kill him.

In my mind Obito looked up to Minato like a hero, idolising him as an infallible individual that could do anything. When Minato wasn't there to save Rin, those feelings went away completely.
