Yeah I mean I think the initial point of connection where you see they gonna like each other more than the other students is where they find out that they both wanna be Hokage. Most relationships need a common ground between the two people, something that connects them. You can see how happy they are when they realise that they both have the same dream and how in that instant, a bond is formed. Minato at the time was clearly the strongest jonin in the leaf so Obito might have felt that there's a real good chance that he'll become Hokage and so to him, to learn from this guy, get advice from this guy, be liked alot by this guy, and spend so much time with him, well, yeah I guess I can see how Obito would see him as a father figure, especially as the orphan that he was. I think you right man it all makes sense the way you put it.

Great read and I do believe you are correct, something I never really gave a second thought but it's been in the back of my head for some time, and you delivered a satisfying answer :) Though It would've been cool to see what happened with Obito's parents...

Kushina, loved Obito like a son and considered him a part of her family.
It was in the cutscenes of Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution

while in manga, Minato clearly wanted Obito to be his successor and be the next Hokage.

Man, knowing that makes him being indirectly responsible for their deaths all the more heartbreaking.

that isn't true at all, otherwise Obito would've been the one Minato taught the Rasengan to. Kakashi was clearly his fav of the 3.

His relationship would be more like Kakashi and Naruto's relationship.

Nothing at all like Kakashi and Sasuke

He didn't teach it to Kakashi...he didn't teach it to anyone, other than Jiraiya (who may have just figured it out).
