That's interesting, but not really true. Horizontal cuts are very seldom attention seeking. Abnormal attention seeking behaviors carry a large stigma as well. The only time cutting behaviors are attention seeking is when used as a manipulative device (commonly practice by people with personality disorders: Borderline and Antisocial primarly). Most cutters hide their cuts and tools. The process even becomes more of a ritual as it continues. Usually when children begin cutting they aren't as careful hiding it. Cutting for the endorphin high is a relatively small percentage of those who cut. I agree though, "loling" at this seems pretty insensitive.
