It was a nice day in Konoha. Jakai was making his way though the village and enjoying the times of peace. He passed by all the villagers through the marketplace, greeting each of them as he strolled along. He placed his hands on the back of his head and looked up at the sky as he moved along the center of the road. Man, it's such a beautiful day. He smiled happily and then jumped onto the top of a nearby building and raced towards the training grounds.

Jakai soon arrived and saw his student waiting for him. "Hey there Chriss. Good seeing you again. Let's get right into it, alright? Go ahead and give me all the details you can on Water and Water Release."

Chriss says before getting serious.

"Okay. Water is a complicated element in relation to the other 4. Water is strong against water but can be over powered by a strong enough fire jutsu. Which is why it's complicated, it can be evaporated with a strong enough fire jutsu. But whatever. Water is weak to earth. Earth is solid, which is why water is weak to it, because water is a liquid. But then again, a strong enough jutsu can break through as always. When combined with lightning jutsu, it can create a huge problem, because it increases the lightnings lethality while at the same time, putting great risk on the user if he/she is wet.

Am I missing anything sensei?

Jakai then handed over a single scroll labeled "Water Release | 水遁". Within the contents of the scroll was a thorough description of Water Release.

Water Release | 水遁
Overview

Water Release is the result of using Nature Transformation within a jutsu to perform various water-based techniques. Water is one of the 5 Basic Nature Transformations and it is made by changing one's chakra to act as fluid as water. This generates water which allows for extremely versatile techniques that have a myriad of effects. A unique trait about Water Release is it's ability to change shape and state as well, such as turning to mist, crystallized water, or syrup. The sudden force that offensive water-based techniques exert can cause a lot of internal damage as well as external. Water Release allows the user to manipulate pre-existing sources of water as well as generate from within or from nothing. It is noted to be extremely difficult for a user to create water from nothing around them.​

Strengths

Water Release is strong against Fire Release. Water Release is able to douse and extinguish the flames created by Fire Release. In addition to the Basic 5 Natures, Water is also strong against several advance elements. It is strong against Storm, Dark (Both the Absorption and Release Forms), Blast, and Sand Release. Water Release is also powerful against Bugs utilized by the Aburame Clan, and Paper Ninjutsu.​

Weaknesses

Water Release is weak against Earth Release. Earth Release can withstand the force of water, since it is much denser, and the soil and minerals can also take in a decent amount of water as well. In addition to the Basic 5 Natures, Water is also weak against several advance elements. It is weak against Wood, Crystal, Ice, Boil, Scorch, and Dust Release. Water Release is also weak against the Dead Bone Pulse techniques utilized by the Kaguya Clan.​

Combinations

Bloodline Limit
Water can be combined to form a few different Bloodline Limits. It can be combined with fire to create Boil and Steam Release, with Wind to create Ice Release, with lightning to create Storm Release, or with Earth to create Wood Release.

Advanced Elements
Rain Release is an advanced element that requires Water and Wind natures to be used.

Interaction with Basic 5
Fire - Water is able to douse out flames, leaving behind a big trail of mist/steam.
Wind - Wind can be added to Water to give it a stronger concussive force.
Lightning - Water is an excellent conductor of electricity, allowing it to be used in conjunction with lightning to create devastating effects.
Earth - Water can act as a system to let earth travel and flow through like a river.​

"This is the first set of techniques for Water Release. I only want you to start by using the Water Release Technique on the target I'll set up. Again, since it's the basic principle technique of all Water Release techniques, it's important you get this down before anything else. You'll start by making your chakra fluid like water and proceeding."

Jakai then took out a scroll and placed it on the ground. He opened it up and then proceeded to slam his hand on the seal placed inside. A puff of smoke would appear and when it went away, there were several practice dummies that were scattered across the field.

As this is Chriss' first water technique, he clears his head of all disturbances and focuses on making his chakra feel fluid like water. Once done, Chriss feels as though he is floating in an ocean because of the fluidity of his chakra.

"Sorry Jakai, I had to focus on that one."

After saying that, Chriss focuses his chakra in his hand and starts forming a ball over water that goes from being the size of a golf ball, to the size of a small watermelon. He then acts as if throwing an actual ball and throws the water at the dummy.

Advantages
• Can be formed into a shield, so it can block fire jutsu up to B rank
• Requires no hand seals
• Very versatile

Disadvantages
• Only D rank, so it's pretty weak
• Better used with a pre-existing water source to make it quicker to use
• If my opponent uses an A rank fire jutsu, i'm toast. Literally

Special use. I can use this as a small wave that splashes the opponent and then quickly use the lightning tendril jutsu you taught me for the extra damage.

Jakai was happily impressed with Chriss. He liked how you used the technique in a unique way, branching away from traditional methods like a water blast. It showed that he was putting more thought into his training. "Chriss, I love that. Let's move on." Jakai smiled happily as he takes back the scroll. He then crosses out the Water Release Technique from the list.

"I'd like to try something new with this training. Just if 2 or more techniques go well together that is."

Having said that, Chriss moves on to the first jutsu. Chriss uses the existing water in the training field to create a thick mist where he silently walks behind the dummy and forms a sword out of water, slicing one of the dummies arms off. Chriss then releases the mist so that Jakai can see what he has done.

Advantages of the mist
• Can conceal my presence if I want to escape to formulate a strategy
• I'm able to controll the thckness of the mist at will
• Makes the sharingan and even the rinnegan virtually useless for the duration of the jutsu

Disadvantages of the mist
• Can be blown away but a simple wind jutsu
• Byakugan can still see through it (but what can't the Byakugan see through -_-)
• A mere D rank water jutsu

Advantages of the water sword
• Can use this if I don't have my sword or CW on me
• If my opponent uses a small fire ball, I can cut it in half
• Can actually hurt the opponent, which they wouldn't expect from a mere D rank jutsu

Disadvantages of the water sword
• Earth armor can easily block it
• It's only a D rank
• B rank fire can stalemate it with anything higher beating it

Chriss then moves on to the final jutsu. He moulds his water chakra and forms a shield on his arm that can be used to block weaker attacks. Chriss then moves his arm around to make sure he still has good maneuverability with the shield and he is satisfied with it.

"I like the water sword most but can it be formed into a spear instead?"

Advantages of the shield
• Can block shuriken, kunai, c rank fire with ease and even block 1 B rank fire jutsu
• Can also block taijutsu to an extent
• Very useful in a pinch
• Requires no hand seals

Disadvantages of the shield
• an earth spear can still pierce it
• fire can still make it evaporate if it's strong enough (b-forbidden rank)
• D rank jutsu

"That was alright. Regarding the water sword tech, you can only make a sword, not a spear. You can make different types of swords though, like a katana, pirate sword, European sword, etc. Also, you said something wrong. C-Rank fire is a stalemate against it, not B-Rank.

Starting now though, I don't want you to state how Ranks can act as a disadvantage. Really think outside the box. One example is how one can only maintain the water sword tech while you're using it, so you're stuck using it. Just think a little more outside the box."

Description: This technique is used to trap a victim inside a virtually inescapable sphere of water by waving the Snake → Ram → Horse → Hare → Ram → Horse → Hare → Hands spread in front palms out. This technique requires a sufficient amount of water, which can be provided by expelling it from one's mouth. Once trapped the target is unable to move while within it due to the heaviness of the water. "Alright, so we're going to start off with Water Release: Water Whip, Water Release: Starch Syrup Capture Field, and Water Release: Water Clone." Jakai then remembered something. He smiled to Chriss and extended his palm out, gesturing Chriss to hold on for a moment.

Jakai leaped back and focused chakra throughout his hands and then slammed his open palms on the ground with great force. Immediately following contact with the ground, the earth sunk down at an incredible rate, sinking 100 meters. The hole was a perfect square, having a width and length of 50 meters. As Jakai stood down below, with his student waiting above, he focused chakra into his mouth and expelled an immense amount of water. The water would fill up the hole, sending Jakai up with the rising wave of water. The water would eventually come up to level with the surface, at which point Jakai would release the technique. The result was an incredibly vast and deep pool that could be used and Jakai standing in the center of it by using his chakra control to stand on the water.

Description: This technique grants the user the ability to freely lower or raise the terrain within a specific area surrounding them, in a similar manner to its parent technique, albeit on a much larger scale. The user will slam his hands on the ground, which he can then lower or raise the ground up to 100 meters in a large section. The rise will be fast enough to pin enemies to the ground, restricting their movements as they struggle to get up, and the drop will be fast enough to leave almost all enemies without a footing, albeit not airborne. Because of the large chakra needed to alter such a large area of the terrain, the user will be able to use it only a limited number of times.

Description: The user performs the snake hand seal and creates a large volume of water from their mouth, spilling it towards the ground and lifting them up into the air. The user can also ride the wave, allowing them to travel at high speeds and attack the enemy. The user can create a small ocean's worth of water, even in barren conditions and can use the water for additional techniques.
"Alright, everything is settled now for training. Come over here bud. So as I was saying, Water Release: Water Whip, Water Release: Starch Syrup Capture Field, and Water Release: Water Clone. Let's begin.

Alright, so for Water Whip, you have to perform a set of handseals while using shape transformation to create a whip of water. that can reach mid-range. You'll basically use it to either lash at a target or bind them. Just like the previous two techs, you can only sustain this whip while it is active. However, it does have the ability for a user to channel lightning through the whip, like Chidori Nagashi.

Next tech shows how water can be used in different forms, namely a sticky-syrup form. Two handseals and focus your chakra slightly differently then usual, making the fluid nature more sticky. Then spit it out and cover a large area. Basically anything present or anything that steps on it will get stuck. If before entering the syrup, one channels chakra on their feet, then they won't get stuck and can move along the syrup easily.

So for the last one, it's a clone technique. You should know about clones. This is an elemental clone. After making the tiger hand seal, you'll shape a water clone from a source of water to be made identical to you. Now, in this case the clone takes not only 15 chakra, but also 10% of your current chakra amount. So be aware of your chakra and how much you have. Anyways, this clone is capable of only remaining within short-range of you. If they leave that you lose control and they revert to normal water. And when they take damage, they'll revert back to normal water.

Go ahead and try the first two techs on some of the dummies in place on the land and come back to the center of the water to perform the clone tech. Oh, try and channel lightning through the first tech. After all that, you'll go through the rundown. Advantages and disadvantages of the tech, hypothetical situations in which you can use it, your personal thoughts on the tech, and any questions you may have."

Minato Aburame appears on the training field while Chriss begins speaking. He simply walks behind Chriss and snaps his neck, causing instant death. He then takes the scroll and throws Chriss' body into the deep pool of water. Where it simply floats in the water.

"Oh. It's you again. Well let's see what he was learning."

Minato takes a glance at the scroll then closes it and throws it to Jakai. Minato quickly moulds his chakra and causes a small tentacle to extend from the water into his hand. He then uses the whip to grab Chriss' and channels his lightning chakra into it, completely frying Chriss from the inside out..

"Well well, look what we have here. Handy little jutsu we got here."

Advantages
• Can be combined with lightning to increase it's cutting power.
• Very handy in situations that require a weapon when you don't have one.

Disadvantages
• Can't attack a long range fighter
• Blocked easily by earth techniques

Minato then weaves 2 hand seals and forms water chakra in his mouth and thickens it, making it feel like syrup. He then shoots it out at the dummy closest to him.

Advantages
• Can slow the opponent down if it hits
• Can be used with a long range lightning technique to slow the opponent then electricute them

Disadvantages
• Can be simply countered by channeling chakra into your feet to walk on top of it unhindered
• A D rank earth shield can block it with no problems

Once more taking his stance, Minato makes the Tiger hand seal and forms a Clone of Water that stands beside him. Minato then smashes the clone with his right hand, causing it to disperse into a puddle of water.

Advantages
• The water produced from the clone dispersing can be used to augment my lightning jutsu
• Can be used to watch my back if an opponent also uses a clone technique

Special Use. I can make the water clone, then throw it into the air so it disperses into water, then use shape manipulation to form a whip that I can quickly use to attack the enemy.

Jakai felt the strangest sense of Déjà Vu. He then noticed a familiar man as before appear and murder Chriss, only to have him perform the techniques that Jakai was teaching. However, the man was foolish.

Jakai easily saw the man, who was standing on the water, form the water whip and bind Chriss's lifeless body, which happened to be floating on the water as well. Jakai then jumped up in the air away from the water before Minato channeled the lightning through whip, electrocuting Chriss and, subsequently, the water that Minato stood on. It was a foolish mistake, resulting in his own downfall, but hopefully something he would learn from. Luckily, it didn't seem like it was that bad, as he was still able to perform the remaining techs.

After he was done, Jakai moved towards Minato. "Hey again... So, a couple things. First off, I'm gonna ask that you state some hypothetical situations for each tech. Also, give me your personal preference on each as well. All of this in addition to the advantages and disadvantages of course. So yea, do that for each. Also, I want you to perform the Water Release: Water Whip tech one more time. But, you have to channel an actual Lightning Release technique through it please. And remember your surroundings. You're standing on water right now. Get off the water and try it on the targets on the land. Then come back on the water afterwards.

Minato recomposes himself and walks off the water, forming a whip as he walks. After grabbing it and reaching dry land, he uses the whip to wrap around the dummy and uses the Lightning Saber technique to send lightning chakra through the whip (Too lazy to put the jutsu)

Advantages
• Requires no hand seals
• Can stretch up to mid range and bind an opponent
• It's all in da flick of da wrist

Disadvantages
• The enemy can send their own lightning chakra through the whip and shock me with it.
• Earth Armor negates this unless there is lightning channeled through it

"Now that was the Thunder Saber technique. The issue is, shape manipulation is used in the technique, making it focused. It also means it can't be channeled through things. That's why your technique would fail. If you tried using Thudner Saber, while having Water Whip active, you'd only disrupt your chakra nature, cancelling out the Water Whip.

It's impossible for people to perform two different techniques at once, unless under very specific circumstances. In this case with Water Whip, the circumstance is that you can only use lightning techs that can be channeled through a medium. So, I want you to try the Water Whip technique one more time. This time, you'll be using a Lightning technique that can work and can be channeled through it. There is definitely one that you've learned that you could use.

Also, I want you to tell me an example of a Lightning Technique that you couldn't use alongside Water Whip and explain to me why. This is just to make sure you understand properly."

"Alright, good question. The Raikage's Armor would not be able to flow through it. It may be a full body surge tech, but it is not one that can be channeled. Basically, any technique that says in its description that it channels through some sort of medium can work with Water Whip. If it doesn't say that, then it's most likely a no." Description: The Kage Bunshin distributes the ninja's chakra evenly among the clones and creates a real copy with form and substance. The clone itself can also utilize any jutsu the original ninja knows. When the clone finally disperses, any new knowledge it has gained is passed back to the original ninja and any additional clones. Upon impact, the clone can be dispersed.
The clones would proceed to spread out and stand on the water. Jakai then spoke. "Alright, moving on. You're going to want to come back on the water for these. Water Release: Water Fang Bullet, Water Release: Hidden Mist Eye Sight Deprevation, and Water Release: Water Shock Wave. Let's begin.

First one needs a water source. You're going to need to focus your chakra anywhere in the water, and then use your shape transformation to manipulate the water to turn into a liquid mass that spins rapidly to compact pressured water. This easily lets you create a streaming current towards a target. It's great in that one can create the rise in water from anywhere there is water, including behind the target.

For the next technique, you're going to need to first perform the Hiding in the Mist technique. Then, you'll be able to control the light in a way to blind the enemy or target, so long as they're in the mist though.

Last one. You'll have to clap your hands and generate a spiraling vortex of water around yourself. The vortex than turns into a wave of water that can be aimed towards a target or all around. What's also nice is that the strength of the technique depends on how much chakra you put in.

Now starting to see that Jakai is helping him, Minato decides to make the training easier for both of them.


Minato steps onto the water and focuses his chakra in the water just behind one of Jakai's clones, then using shape manipulation, he shapes the water into a spiralling torrent of water with an extremely sharp tip. He then reaches his right hand out toward Jakai's clone and closes his fist before bringing it to his body once again, sending the water through the clones chest and stabbing it through the heart.

"Poor guy, too bad I had to do that."

Advantages
• Can be used quickly with no hand seals
• If it hits, it can severly damage the enemy if not kill them.

Disadvantages
• Requires an existing water source
• It is only short range

How would I use it in battle. Well using the assumption that my opponent is within short range and talking to me, i'd create this slightly behind him and stab him through the leg, limiting his/her movement.

Minato again moulds his chakra in his throat and blows it out, creating a thickening mist that limits the clones sight greatly. Then using his knowledge of light refraction, Minato uses the water molecules in the mist to create an exceedingly strong mirror of water that is invisible to the naked eye, that blinds the clone while Minato throws a kunai into it's chest, causing it to disperse.

Advantages
• Can be used from any range
• Requires no hand seals

Disadvantages
• Requires an existing mist
• The target has to be within the mist

Special use. Minato quickly moulds his chakra in the existing mist to create a blinding like that makes it nearly impossible to see inside the mist. Then using his ability to see the target, he quickly grabs 3 kunai out of his ninja pouch. Minato then throws the 3 kunai, one aimed at each of the opponents legs and the final aimed at it's chest.

Finally Minato focuses his chakra into the water for an extended amount of time and creates a giant wave of water chakra that splashes into the final clone. Then he creates a cloud above his head that pulses lightning into his uprised hands, then thrusting his right hand forward, he sends a deadly bolt of lightning into the water, electrocuting the clone.

Advantages
• Requires no hand seals
• Can be used quite quickly with barely any warning

Disadvantages
• An Earth armor should be enough to completely negate this jutsu
• If the opponent creates an earth wall, it could make the water splash back toward me where he/she can use a lightning jutsu to kill me

First one has you focus your chakra to create an orb of water around an opponent you are next to. Using shape transformation, you'll make the water incredibly heavy and dense, to the point that the opponent wouldn't be able to move. So long as you are focusing on the tech, it'll remain.

For the next technique, you'll focus your water in the clouds, making a sort of rain that comes down and allows you to detect the existence of any form of foreign chakra present inside it. It's a nice tech.

Last one has you literally turn into water. It's like a transformation tech almost. Basically, it's another form of substitution, and follows those rules. You turn yourself into water, allowing physical attacks to simply phase through you, but you do need to take into account scale of the attack and such. But essentially, after turning into water, you're freely able to reform from physical attacks.

I want you to stay still in that spot for this time. Go ahead and try the techs on my clones. The first to trap my clone, the second to detect our presence, and the third to protect yourself. Be sure to follow the same routine."
The first clone then moved closed to Minato to wait for him to begin. By the time Minato would be done with the second technique, the kunai that Jakai threw from before would be falling down right over his head.
