Yeah exactly it's more of a utility jutsu that can screw up the opponent in other ways as oppose to direct lethality but the variety of skills that are actually deadly is too damn small. I wish there was just one user who could use it less as a utility jutsu and more as a straightup solo kind of jutsu similar to how how Naruto and Sasuke go about fighting with rasengan variants and chidori variants.

Agreed that would be nice but that also just leaves room for imagination and besides maybe Kishi meant it to be a primarily support jutsu lol. Maybe said prodigy bolt will come up with something.

Well it's more versatile than fire style etc. Some elements can have their properties altered slightly. Water can be mist. It can cut and slice like air. It can crush with pressure like doton. Trollkage's water pistol was awesome. Water can block like the others, it can overwhelm & drown.(then again, you're kinda screwed if anyone overwhelms you with anything.)It can push and pull, erode defences. Kishi just neglectex it somewhat. Blood bending existed in Avatar but I can see where you're coming from OP. Water could be like Gaara's sand but with much more variables.

Even with Kisame, his power wasn't really from his Suiton abilities, but from his sword.

His suiton would be pitiful without the combined abilities of Samehada.

Kisame can absorb chakra without Samaheda. He can still use other people chakra to heal himself. He still has bijou level chakra. He still has gills. He can still use a 1000 sharks and gsb. All samaheda did was increase the amount of chakra he could take at once, basically. I know more about kisame than anyone else on this base.
