IMO, He created a lot of problems. I wish Hiruzen would have killed him.

He was selfish, wanted to be hokage at all cost so imo he was bad.

Danzo should have stayed a bit longer, IMO. He was an incredibly well written character. He's just a man who'd do anything to get what he wants. Whether that be the Hokage seat, or the commander of the SA. Legend.

Danzo is too complex to have a label. He blurs the line between good and evil completely. Necessary evils for desired well-being of the village.

Danzo was bad because unlike many other characters he wanted to be on top of the village he did everything to rule the village his way dispite Loving it the only good thing i saw from him is the last sacriface in the end , if he really wanted to protect the village there is no need for him to fight for being hokage itachi , naruto and many others have showcased that anyway this is just my opinion

He was the guy that nobody likes or wants to accept but everyone needs.
He had the best interest of the village at heart he simply went about it the wrong way.
It's hard to understand but a lot of times when your boss makes a decision that you believe in your heart to be wrong do you follow his orders?
Danzo had to deal with that for a lifetime. That's why he chose to operate the way he did.

he did what he thought to be right.

difference in opinion and method alone dont make someone bad.

i dont even view madara as bad or evil because he truly belives his method will help the world, its all about point of view.

causing suffering to pursue a greater cause isnt necessarily bad, enjoying the suffering you cause is.

you should add a poll.

'Good' intentions but executed in the most worst way.

I don't think so. In a profession defined by murder, torture, deception, thievery and manipulation without guilt, is there really a "worst" way? Danzo didn't do anything that other shinobi don't regularly do, he just did it against the same path of the protagonists so he looks like a bad guy.

The anime just makes him look like an incredible douche that doesn't actually care for the village, but his status.

As for the manga, I still think he's an *******, but he genuinely cares about Konoha and wants to keep it safe at all costs. His methods don't seem like they're the best, but what methods are? Both the way Hiruzen and Danzo run things have gotten people killed, so who is to say Danzo is going about maintaining peace the wrong way? Maybe the sacrifices he makes/wants to make are necessary.

Danzo is neutral.

If he needs a label, I'd call him a dark anti-hero.

he used love/greater good of the village to fuel his ambitions. The truth was he was a bad man who used good intentions to cover and excuse his dark intentions. He wanted power and that was all.
