That's not true in the slightest I suggest you go do deeper research or provide something backing that up because there are quite a few examples of convicted criminals serving in the military rather than jail time.

I did some digging and the only instances where I found that criminals could join the military were in times of war. The Korean War being the most recent. I went on to the army and navy websites and they all say that a criminal record can disqualify you for enlistment in the military. I assume that if the army and navy won't take criminals I doubt any other branch would. The only thing I found that could corroborate your side is that in some instances with more mild cases you can acquire a form stating that you are qualified to serve. This form is not provided by any branch and most likely will need to be from a prominent figure. Most likely your local senator or representative.

Side note-there are even limitations on tattoos. They take enlistment seriously is what ive gathered.

National Security is not something you play with. Citizens, infrastructure etc. could all be lost if a country's armed forces are not prepared. There is a reason why rigorous training is conducted on daily basis in the military. The best people to defend a country are physically fit and mentally sane people; transgenders or whatever the word is don't fit the standard. I would never entrust a nation's security to a jackass who thinks he/she belongs to the opposite gender, and then requests the military to pay for his/her surgical fees.

So for once, I agree with Trump on this.

Transgender citizens have been serving for a few years now and nothing has shown that their combat readiness/effectiveness is lacking in anyway. So why can't they serve?
