Sweet, I'm not the only one who thinks that Gomez looks like Charlie Sheen. =)
John Terry looks like Edward Norton and Javier Hernandez looks like Bruno Mars, I swear they look like twins.

Cruyff already knew they were going to lose. He said it in a interview after Denmark game, and told Netherlands they need to play Van der Vaart with Sneijder, Kuyt, and Huntelaar with RVP, if they wanted to stand a chance, but they all were on the bench. The thing is RVP is a great performer, but its this year that he should consistency were as Huntelaar has been doing it for years. Kuyt (as winger) is old, but his experience and influence in the game would have helped and when RVP, Robben would attack, he could easily drop down to mid field for support there.

Holland should have taken a similar thrashing as Argentina as much as it pains to say that for the Oranje. Let's face it - no matter what kind of tactic and lineup we imagine for Holland, fact it, they were simply disastrous.

Btw, Ronaldo wasn't in fun mood when they asked him about his reaction on Messi's chants. xd I don't know of Messi takes this rivalry as seriously but Ronaldo sure, is complete competitor. Being better than Messi has really become an obsession for him. I think that's one attitude I've always liked in CR7 - to keep trying with personal challenges.

well Cruyff has always criticize Netherlands under van marwijk leadership,
idk what's the old man problem,

i don't think the dutch played that horrible in the euro its just that they don't have any great defender and wing back, like stam and de boer brothers and the need another philip cocu, van bommel is just too old, the could have used the young player from PSV(i can't remember his name),

and i wonder why they don't use 2 forward like in the past, huntelarr feat RVP sounds very good if i do say so myself with sneijder behind them.

LOL @the pic, and that's young cristiano from euro 2004xd, and am still wondering what happen in 2010 when Germany massacre the Argentinians................

As you can see each goal was given to them on a golden paltered plate.

As far as CR7 and Messi rivalry goes, CR7 is one who loves to go and speak about himself around media, were as Messi likes to prove himself on the pitch, Messi hardly says anything about Ronaldo, I've only heard him say positive things. Messi takes this rivalry to the pitch and proves himself superior to Ronaldo thus far, as were Ronaldo only speaks to press proclaiming himself the best. This is why I prefer Messi he has the hype to be better than Maradona/Pele, but yet he doesn't think so and tries everyday on that pitch despite breaking records, and winning everything with Barcelona. He still wants to win more and I hope one day he wins Copa America, along with the WC, which he is working for. He rarely comes out with nasty comments or remark like Ronaldo complaining half the time. Messi blamed himself for the loss VS Chelsea. Messi has better sportsmanship over Ronaldo, and has much more hunger to become better despite people already claiming him to be the best. :p

Anyways before the match between Brazil VS Argentina, Mercelo claimed Messi to be the best in the world, after he got a friendly call from Ronaldo.

Cruyff is wiser than you think, I shouldn't have to remind you of his playing days? And that he gave Spain/Barcelona the blue print of their style, which is known world wide now and regraded as the best style. You agree with the two forwards and Sneijder, which is what Cruyff said, so i don't see anything wrong with the old man :p If your also agreeing with him.

Aregentina didn't have any defence in WC they played a complete offensive line have players like Messi, Higuain, Aguero, Tevez in starting line up.

well i do have a problem with him criticize negative football style,
i mean in 1982/2006 italy own the world with catenaccio, and no one bitch about it only beckenbauer(well he got butthurt over italy winning against Germany in the westfalenstadion),

and in 2012 chelsea win the UCL with negative football and then people was like.... well you know what they said,

by the way what you think about thomas mueller ?
i mean that player has a lot potential but bayern keep him at bay and delay his growth, they should have let him play outside Germany like in EPL,Serie A and Laliga, i hope he don't end up like santa cruz and ribery

Its personal opinions. I mean vast majority are stunned and amazed by Barcelona/Spain play style, but there are some who don't think of it as much, and some who literally find it boring/unattractive, or just simply hate it. These are just opinions of football fans. Catenaccio did not involve 10 people in the PK box.

Cruyff finds Chelsea approach wrong in his opinion, but lets look at it the three games Chelsea played two VS Barcelona, and one vs Bayern, who was the better team? The vast majority find Chelsea CL victory wrong, as opinions. There are those like you and Escorps who may find it heroism and than theirs people like me, who may think the team that played better deserved it, but this negative tactic provoked that, and than theres some who simply hate the entire negative tactic. Holland used it in WC ran VS Brazil and Spain. Brazil = success and Spain = failure due to the red card. After they beat Brazil people raved about it and after the defeat to Spain they criticized it.

The best thing about playing a game, which revolves everything, defence, midfield, and offence, win or lose, the fact that you tried will always remain there. Using a negative tactic (keeping 10 people in the PK box) winning people praise it the second a defeat comes will be criticized. When this tactic is used VS the club/nation you support and you see how hard your club/nation is working, but fall to this tactic you may also criticized it other than Chelsea fans, and England supporters people don't have a problem with it, but once its used against your club than they all come out.

Ie: some Madrid fans/supporters hate Barcelona play style, but yet their national team plays the same style, and they are full of praises for it.

If Chelsea used this VS City and United, expect a lot of their fans complaining, including the squad.

Muller is very talented, he doesn't want to leave Bayern, but I think he will as he indicated that Inter and a couple of clubs in EPL are after him with City being favs to land him for about 22-25 million euros. If he doesn't get a starting position this coming season he will leave, or may leave soon any as he feel, he isn't being treated right by Bayern coach

and
Argentina lacked proper defensive players but Holland's whole team was crippled yesterday. After 2-0, Germany did its counters by walking with the ball. If they decided to push the button further, they could easily have handed a thrashing to Holland.

Well, Ronaldo is a competitor. Take Messi - he keeps saying that he don't consider him to be the best. By saying that, he takes some pressure off him and in case, he fails somewhere - he can always defend himself that it's not him who said he was the best. Ronaldo is a bit the inverse. He want to state that he's the best. And in case, he isn't - he badly wanna prove his cynics wrong. He adds some self-pressure on him due to his confidence. Some see it as gloating or ego-centered but Ronaldo is another kind of example.

Messi exemplifies humbleness and sportsmanship while Ronaldo is the personification of the one who never gives up and wanna challenges all competitors to reach the summit. He's an inspiration for people who give up when coming in face of better opponents. I think, deep inside him, he knows that Messi is getting the better than him in last 2 years (though this year, they were close) but yet, he just want to keep going. He want to prove that he's the best. He's obsessed - An obsession that'll be either fatal or really make him accomplish his goals. They are polar opposites when it comes to mental thinking but truly, 2 awesome players. And we're blessed to see such rivalry in our generation.

I don't know if you've been reading the regular extracts from Ronaldo's book on goal.com but it's pretty enriching.

---

Coming on Italy's match.

- Italy complicated themselves uselessly. There was lots of foul in this match though and I think, it disrupt the flow of the match. Hence, neither team controlled the match course. Croatia is tenacious though and the last match will be interesting.

As for Spain at half-time, they are completely dominating the procedures with their passes. It's just lucky that it's only 1-0. Ward is guilty for the first goal though as he kept standing and didn't helped Dunne. Torres easily took advantage of the nonchalant defense and missiled it early-on.

Casillas did only 1 stop and I'm not even sure if the ball was on target. I doubt there'll be some surprise. You clearly see how Spain is helped when there's a striker. The striker - no matter his form - attracts 2 defenders to him and this gives much space; especially to wingers and wing-backs. Tactically, their 6 midfielder lineup was clearly a mistake against Italy. It's a tactic that should be used only to protect a score.

And Iniesta is doing a fantastic match. I think he barely lost a ball or mistimed a pass. His workrate is brilliant. Clearly one player in this Euro whose level in still that of in 2010.

EDIT: 2-0 Spain! Unsurprisingly.
