Re: UEFA Euro 2012 Official Thread - Discussion, Analysis, Predictions & All News!
But getting back to what I saw, he got a big striker ego. Like all strikers he want to keep scoring but like all 'great' strikers, he also like to score in more complicated fashion rather than opting for simplicity.
In the first goal, he demonstrated his power but his shot was on the GK. His best choice would be to put it near the second-post but he went in force. Getting on his second goal, he did a classic run but while many would have dribbled the GK or fooled the GK, he tried a fake faint (which made him lose a split second) and shot in force again - where there was few space between post and GK. So, he likes risk like big strikers but for a player who needs to regain his old form, that seemed like over-daring. In a good day, his risky decisions pass but in another bad day like against Italy, his choices doesn't pay off. He's not a bad player or in lack of confidence but his future will depend on his efficiency. The more he'll score, the more he'll feel acclaims but the more he misses, the more he'll be buried under pressure. This Euro is like a Century-old Wooded Bridge for him. Cross it successfully and re-gain your position or perish with repeated mistakes.
Oh you know, given that Shakira's couldn't reach Ukraine with her private jet, your defense was relatively good, if you know what I mean
I noticed something else with Torres. Wait, was everyone's eyes simply scrutinizing Torres's moves in this match?I don't know who got Man of the match, but David Silva deserves it, 1 goal a long with 2 assists.
I really liked seeing this Spain side, all tho disappoint that we couldn't capitalize more. I mean credit to Ireland GK, Given for stopping 18 shots. Torres played well, I noticed one thing with Torres, despite his speed and strength he can't control it, I mean he goes a head, but ends up putting to much power on the ball, or could be do it his speed, and ends up losing it by the GK, and/or getting rough shot because the GK comes out before he gets to the ball.
Our test will be next game VS Croatia side, we may have Italy fate in our hands, if Italy ends up beating Ireland (which seems possible, looking at their past two fixtures), and we beat Croatia, than Italy will advance with us, otherwise a draw we can still go thru with, but a loss is rough and can screw us as Italy may still be able to get thru with goal advantage depending how much they score VS Ireland.
Our biggest problem is still the defence. Were lucky Ireland don't have the best offence, but facing a team like Germany with this defence may destroy us.
