Re: UEFA Euro 2012 Official Thread - Discussion, Analysis, Predictions & All News!

The same thing was said when Platini played. He took France to new heights and had a big influence. A long came Zidane, so did he. Tomorrow someone else will come and fulfill the same job.

As far as Italy goes, well they played dirty with Zidane, as far as I know racially abused him and his family.
well back then in 2006, people called ribery as the next zidane he played almost perfect in every match started in the match vs Spain, but after WC he transfer to the wrong club:shrug:

that kinda thing always happen in a intense match, especially in a world cup final where the match reach extra time, i blame both materazzi for doing that and zidane for not being able to control himself.

overall last night match is kinda boring that i fell asleep before the 1st half end, seriously blanc is trying to play defensively against Spain, by putting nasri and menez on the bench and that decision is dead wrong and they got what they deserve, Spain totally abused both of their flank and midfielders,

as for Spain they played great but they also lucky that blanc decided to put nasri in the bench at the start, Spain weakness located in their both rear flank where arbeloa and alba often leaf their post to support the attack, and we see ribery totally abused arbeloa post while alba post is safe thanks to nasri absence if not then the match will not end like thisU_U

You were right in your point but wrong in the conclusion. Ribery's biggest mistake is not to transfer to a wrong club but it's deciding to accept a superstar's status that media tagged on him after Zidane. He's no Zidane in any ways you see it and IMO, he let hype destroy his career. It's a bit the same thing as Robinho.

I'd put my 2 cents that all the hype Neymar is receiving will also destroy him. He may be talented but he has more chance to succeed if he becomes humble and work hard in a big European club.

Materazzi is an @sshole <-- This has been my sole opinion on that Zidane-Matterazzi's affair since 2006 and will always be! U_U

Actually, that right flank of Blanc is atrocious defensively. Personally, Blanc knew that this side is weak; so he decided to put to right backs in this position. Perhaps, he knew that Nasri won't make much defensive sacrifices. Anyways, despite Blanc's tactic, the goal still came on the right flank when Alba charged. So, he failed.

In fact, Spain attacked more on the left flank with Silva/Arbeloa but Clichy hold them barely. But they barely tried to pass towards the other flank and when they tried, they scored :p That kinda resumes how poor this flank is defensively. Now, imagine how poorer it would have been if there was one player in less...

I understood the point of counter-attacking with fast wingers and that they missed Nasri in that case on the right. But we should also understand that Spain could have crush them furthermore if their wingers remained offensively. Spain didn't impress me with their game but I was impressed with how they controlled the match from start to end.

And it's mainly what bored me. It was like clear-cut that they were superior than France and that they could score whenever they wanted. They played at their own desired pace and dictated it according to them. France players lacked cohesion and failed to add frenzy to this match.

Today's match professor, the focus lays in today's match now. Time to analyze or else:mugi:

Today's match professor, the focus lays in today's match now. Time to analyze or else:mugi:
I'll get to it later on (though there's less to say since England-Italy is pretty evenly matched) but first, I'd get to some point as I've just watched on Telefoot where Blanc, Llorris and FFF President Le Graet talked live from Ukraine.

1. Blanc admitted that he feared the flank of Iniesta/Alba most and that it was raging that they conceded the first goal on that side despite his "measures taken."

2. Llorris said that the team still needs to grow in teamwork and that they should grow fast cause the media puts a lot of pressure on them.

These are 2 points that I obviously agree with. Especially on the media part where the France media kept underlining that Nasri gave a bad image of the National team with his remarks post-match and that he may have been been a factor that's been detrimental to France. In case, you don't know, 's the outburst of Nasri news which is incomplete.

It kinda went like that: (I'm trying to translate it by myself from French)

Nasri: I don't wanna say anything. You just write crap stories on us in your crap articles.

Journalist: Then f**k off then!

Nasri: You tell me to f**k off? Come over there and let's fix this like a man.

Journalist: Yeah, all talk!

Nasri: Go and f**k yourself! Go ba*g your mother, you @**hole. You want me to explain myself when you don't have the balls...motherf**ker? Now, you can write that I've been badly brought up in your c**p article.

Sure, I agree that it's shameful of what Samir just did but it's saddening that France media is trying [again...] to put the blame on some player/s when it was a whole team who misplayed against Spain.

As Blanc said, Nasri is a player who bust his ass off in training but he's very sensible. Thus, he doesn't control himself in the Press which is regrettable. It's in teamplay and experience where France needs to grow; not in having better post-match interviews or celebrations.

This is something that I relate to. Football media (not only in France) just doesn't underline their own fortes and weaknesses enough. They just like to sensationalize by putting blames on players/coaches. That's sad.

Take Spain itself for example. They made a mount-hill with Xavi and other Barca's comments on Spain. This could have been detrimental to them while I'm sure, concentrating on Spain's floating defense (for example) could bring more frutious media result..

@ ReLax - We got numerous points currently in the Debates thread that's on hold. (like my question, Ballon D'Or, transfers and video replaying). Once we got rid of most of it, I'd like to analyse the pros and cons that media bring onto a National team with their exaggerated coverage? Right now, I see much more detrimental factors than positive.

Re: UEFA Euro 2012 Official Thread - Discussion, Analysis, Predictions & All News!

The Escorp's Pre-Match Analysis

England v/s Italy

- Sincerely, both teams are pretty evenly matched.

- Italy's Catennacio is not as good as in 2006 (or before) but it's their best tournament since 2006. Their defense play is good as usual. England's defense is also very good.

- I expect both teams to attack at given intervals; with Italy attacking most. The dual clash between Gerrard/Parker v/s Pirlo/De Rossi will be great. It's upon that the balance will hang.

- Rooney is not in the best of his shape but as I said above, it's not with a England's current tactic that we'll see the best of Rooney. Yeah, if Walcott or Chamberlain play instead of Milner, we might see a better Rooney. Fast players combine better with Rooney. The 2 'bad-boys' strikers in Italy - Cassano and Ballotelli - are also the same. Can succeed or flop completely on all fronts.

- Another even part is that both teams attack/defend well on set-pieces.

- Seriously, this is the most balanced QF of this Euro. No scandals to disrupt either team also like for France/Spain. I really don't think either coaches will make a surprising lineup. Maybe Milner will be opted out but this is more positive news than negative.

- All-in-all, it will be a very tight match. The team who'll take the lead have 75+% of winning the match. So, yeah, the opener might decide the fate. I won't rule out extra-time also.

- The fact that both these teams are closely matched - in style and form - could make this pretty entertaining...

- There's always scandals when England get knock-out usually. From Rooney's red card to Beckham missed penalty to David James mistakes to Frank Lampard's refused goal...we've seen it so much things. So, another interesting thing is that we might get some 'scandalous issue' to chatter about if Italy wins. If England wins, we'll also get interesting things to talk since this will be another upset to see this team reaching Semis.

- I won't give a score but my heart is with England obviously. Though they have a very .

I'd love to see both my favored teams - England and Portugal - in Semis. Who would have said that these two would reach Semis when Portugal grabbed the Group of Death and England were disastrous in all their displays?

My prediction: 2-2, England have a goal disallowed in extra time as usual and then go on to lose on Penalty's.

Italy ended the half on top but England had a very good spell early on. Jonson should have scored and I think it was De Rossi with a cracking strike. Good Game this.

Lmao seriously that is a legit English game. the opponent is leading by a goal or two the suddenly England score 2 more Im always annoyed about that lol :ice:
You wrote England v/s England, that's why I laugh. Not about the scenario xd

---

The Escorp's HT Analysis

0-0 between Italy-England.

- There may be no goals but this first half has been so much more entertaining than yesterday's match. U_U And people tag Italy and England as defensive teams. Who entertains more at the end? U_U

- As I predicted both teams attacked at given intervals; with Italy attacking most - especially post 30th minute mark.

- De Rossi sent shock-waves through me but his ball hurt the bar. England replied immediately with Johnson whose ball went into Buffon after he messed a bit before shooting.

- Italy shot a lot towards goal; especially Cassano. They got only 2 chances that weren't from far shots and Ballotelli couldn't put in either. England grab certain chances; especially one well combined between Welbeck-Rooney.

- Gerrard is a bit under-form from his previous matches and the wingers - a crucial section in Englands plays are also under-performing.

- With Gerrard with less brio, Italy's trio - Pirlo, Montelivo and De Rossi - are dictating the midfield. The domination of chances and possession can be attributed mainly to that.

- As I said, first goal will be crucial. So let's see. Unsurprisingly, both teams are very good defensively.

- Italy may be dominating but everything is possible with England. The entries of Walcott or Chamberlain shall be interesting. I hope, Gerrard ups his game in second half.

- The fact that both teams are not slowing the game's pace is making it awesome. And both teams are fighting well. At the very least, whoever team goes out, they will go by delivering a good-enough performance; not a whimper like France. U_U
