Genocide is never the answer. While Tobirama was wrong to have them live on the outskirts of the village, he was trying to do the right thing by giving them the responsibility of the police department. They should have been able to live wherever they wanted and been given more responsibilities within the village. At least the ones who were qualified and earned it. Hiruzen bears the brunt of the responsibility for this because he knew how Danzo was and let him continue to operate the way he always did even after he tried to kill Hiruzen.

When they were told by Itachi about the coup, Hiruzen should have ordered Danzo not to act under any circumstances or he would lose his post. He should have also asked Itachi to set up a meeting with Hiruzen and the Uchiha clan leaders to see if they could find a peaceful solution to the situation. The coup was wrong but so was the genocide.

Why are people still against this? The massacre was the only thing and the RIGHT thing to do. Itachi said Sasuke may have been able to make a difference, but either way Sasuke was a child and the Uchihas might have not listened to him because of that! Hiruzen wanted to talk things out, but it was already too late for that because of Tobirama isolating them from the village and making them the police force. Danzo's solution was the only thing left to do and they already had Itachi as a spy so I don't see the problem with all this.

Actually Danzo made it worst since he made the Uchiha's not help when Kurama attacking because he didn't want the chance of them getting control over Kurama and this made villagers hate the Uchihas for not helping while the Uchihas feel untrusted plus started to be watched by Danzo's men. Danzo then took Shisui's eye when he wanted to use it on Itachi's dad to try and stop the coup.

Danzo also created bad Nagato when he made Hanzo turn on Nagato/Yahiko/Konan and even sent anbu root members to help kill them which resulted in Yahiko dying, Nagato losing his mobility and turning evil which resulted in the destruction of Konoha either way.

Tobirama was a racist. He did the same that happened to African Americans in the early days. He caused unneccesary segregation because he was prejudice, racist, and paranoid. Tobirama is at fault for everything. He's like Hitler except it was Danzo who did the genocide.

That comment was kinda dumb since Tobirama only did what was right for the village as a whole. He didn't kill or kick out the Uchihas but moved them away due to them losing control and going wild with hatred which he stated to see happen a lot. Hashirama who have been defending the Uchihas whenever Tobirama talked bad about them said nothing to say it wasn't true .

Sasuke even asked Tobirama didn't he hate the Uchiha's and he said no, he only did what he needed to do to protect and said that there were many like Itachi who weren't bounded to the clan and did a lot for the village and . He even goes on to say what Hashirama's role was and what was his then Hiruzen cuts in and said he couldn't continue what Tobirama was working for . The whole purpose was to have everyone not limit to their clans but to see the village as a whole as their family but he couldn't just separated the Uchiha clan of those who run wild and lose control from those like Itachi, Shisui's dad, Shisui. That can make things worst, for all you know Tobirama might have hoped that the Uchiha's that weren't bounded to the clan but to the village might have rubbed off on the other Uchihas.

Danzo actually made it worst, he made Hiruzen not allow the Uchihas to help in fear that they gain control over Kurama. This created distrust of the villagers with the Uchihas since they lost a lot of ninjas against Kurama and the Uchihas did nothing to help. Danzo then put them under watch which also fueled the coup supporters. Danzo then took Shisui's eye when he wanted to use it on Itachi's dad to try and stop the coup so he even prevented a possible solution all so the only choice would be to kill them all. He wanted their eyes and ended up getting some.

The senjus ruled the village? wut? The decision by the hokage to separate the uchihas was done for their own good and to prevent an other madara from happening
sequestering ppl to the outskirts of an area against their will based on nothing more than their ethnicity doesn't tell me it was done for their own good.

Those who support genocide are sick people

And a growing amount of people support it being necessary. Sadly though most would not support genocide if the group targetted included themselves(thus makeing them hypocritical)

I agree with you. There is no reason that the uchiha massacre should have happened. There should have been more serious talks, and all options should have been explored.

The only casualties of war should be those who are fighting in it. Only those casualties are acceptable.

The uchiha were planning the coup. But they had not finalized their plans, nor had they acted upon them, nor was there any real attempts at diplomacy.(there was some, but I do not remember it being mentioned that they brought the clan leader to a meeting, in which the hokage asked " Listen. We know you guys are upset at us. What can we do to make you happy and resolve this issue without violence?" Uchiha clan leader " You can allow us to live inside the village. We are sick of being forced away from everyone else." Hokage "Is that all you want? I can do that, but I need a guarantee that your primary attachment is to the village. And that you would join us if one of your fellow clansmen attacked the village like your ancestor madara uchiha did." etc etc

If there was evidence of them planning a rebellion and negotiations failed, then you simply get the spy(itachi) to gather the incriminating evidence, and you arrest those who were planning a rebellion, and put them on a public trial.

You dont just go killing them and all the women and children and innocent people.

If you think otherwise, then you have a sick and twisted, warped point of view.

Based on their ethnicity? Losing someone they love and turning hatred fill crazy has nothing to do with ethnicity, that's based on their actions and personality which is why they were sectioned off. Sasuke even asked Tobirama didn't he hate the Uchihas and Tobirama said no and explains the purpose of what Hashirama did and what he tried to do. It was Hiruzen who said he failed to continue what Tobirama tried to do and it was Danzo who made things worst , ,

and how does any of that disproves what i said, considering they were distinctly targeted like that?

how is it the right thing to slaughter an entire group of people?
surely only the ringleaders are truly guilty.
and besides konoha is the corrupt government, not the uchihas. thye were good people wanting to take down an unfair and corrupt leadership.
you arent even sure that all of the uchiha were willing, and not coaxed into it by zetsu and obito.
because its not like itachi fully investigated and its not like they ordered any of the uchihas minds to be read by yamanaka clan to see if htye really did set kyuubi on the village.

The massacre was the only thing and the RIGHT thing to do. but again, why kill EVERYONE? why not kill the main force and the ringleaders, and put the survivors in jail.
sparing sasukes feelings is not a reason.

No lol killing is never the answer. Uchiha were about to attempt a coup, they weren't going on a mission to assassinate konoha government officials. Maybe fugaku and other instigators should have been captured and reprimanded but not killed.

Also why should innocent people like sasuke's mum be killed when she didn't even take part in the coup? Couldn't have imagined what it would have been like for sasuke back then and then how he felt finding out the truth a few years later.

Re: You heard it here first from NB: genocide is perfectly ok!
In every era governmental set ups have had interesting terms to justify mass slaughter. Ethnic cleansing for indigenous populations. The term cleansing has nice connotations. No matter how many people were slaughtered in the name of public interest or nationalism, cleansing, this bow-tie term, solved it all. In today's world Collateral Damage and Lesser Evils have become so popular. You kill *Insert Number Here* people and as long as the end justify the means, and National interests are met, it's all right and commendable. Heroism has such nice clean facets to it, doesn't it?

I also love the fact how these utterly gross and wanton Nationalistic sentiments are carried over to Literature or any other topic we find interesting. Plato was not wrong when he declared that 'Art Reflects Life'. Whatever we state or create, always reflects our own personal ideologies, so the puerile comments about the seriousness of this all are always idiotic and ridiculous.

By and by, it doesn't make all this any less shocking that human lives have always been treated with less sentiment as long as the needs of the majority are met. It's not today that people have been treated like live stock - kill the small number so that the rest can survive. So all the aforementioned vocabulary items are not pejorative terms, they are a part of National heroic platitudes and the majority of NB, being themselves a part and parcel of such Jingoistic ideologies, just love the whole deal. How humanity disgusts me.

The few don't out way the many. To kill a smaller number to save the most is sound judgement on the leadership. People say they should have killed only the ninja but their is a flaw in that. The others would have hated the village even more. So to make sure that didn't happen danzo said to kill them all. It's cruel but it had to happen.

No one may be perfect King tells me, but he's closest to perfection than any other character to step foot on this manga.

And it all starts admitting you've failed, King Itachi has proven to us countless times NV just can't solo him.
Only he may solo himself by stating his errors, no man has dared to call him "flawed".

none is better than a few.
you have no proof that the clan hated anyone or that survivors would vow revenge.
and who cares if a bunch of kids hate the village? throw them in jail and if thye hate konoha, let them.
whats immoral is killing anyone if you can avoid it and konoha could have avoided it by placating the clan.

So to make sure that didn't happen danzo said to kill them all. It's cruel but it had to happen.
no it didnt

how is a moral issue like genocide simple?
and you know what risks the village? turning the surviving uchiha into a psychopathic avenger
