I don't know where you're getting your information from, but the Caribbean was mostly inhabited by the Taíno, a subgroup of the Arawak, and these people were certainly not of the "black" you speak of. I'm from Puerto Rico and there are still a couple of our beautiful Taíno ancestors left, and trust me when I tell that they look nothing like the damn slaves the dirty, diseased, bastard Spaniards brought here to degrade our genes.
Sorry but you are incorrect. The original natives of Jamaica were actually Dark Skinned Arawaks. Their skin was very dark amd their hair was long and straight. They mixed with the Warriors of Gjana who had fought for amd obtained their freedom by a Ghanaian called Queen Nanny of the Maroons.
I am half Jamaican Maroon myself and half Southamerican.
Most native people of these older tribes were actually darker in skin complexion unless they had been mixed with Europeans.
