it's almost safe to say they grew up in a time where ninja were really at bloody war though. The old stories kind of suggest it when their clans lineage is told. and how often they would fight and how bad things were. it's almost safe to say you had to be strong back then to survive.

Tbh I can't decide on a number order beyond the 1st place spot. I give that to Naruto based solely on, at this point in the manga IMO none of the others at age 16 can compare to Naruto. Really even at the age of death or if they are still alive, most still can not compare to him.
Please do not try to convince me Naruto is undeserving of that spot if he didn't earn the Kyubi is anywhere in your post. He has IMO more than earned it.

Number four is NOT a prodigy. He had the rinnegan. And was NOT skilled in it the same way Neji was with his byakugan or itachi with his sharingan.

I dont agree with the numbering cauz we dont know abt madara's and hashirama senju's childhood, so i would rate Minato, Itachi, Sasuke , Kakashi, Neji , Kabuto as the best child prodigies...

I don't get why everyone is ranking Orochimaru so high on their list of prodigies. Oro himself said that he couldn't compare at all to Sasuke as a youngster.
Even if you take into account kekkei genkai and adjust because of that, then Minato, Itachi, Kakashi, and Naruto are all insanely skilled kids.
Lots of people underrate Naruto, saying that he is just good at hard work, but hard work won't let you learn the rasengan in a week or two. Hard work doesn't allow you to master the kage bunshin jutsu before you are even a genin. That is pure skill. Naruto's only problem was that he never had anyone to teach him anything.
Kakashi was a shit teacher, and Jiraiya didn't show up until Naruto was 12.

Lol why are people quoting each others list and disagreeing?. Everybody is allowed to have their opinion and nobody is right on this matter no different to the top 10 list, everybody will have differing opinions.
Anyway il say a couple of things first. I do acknowledge the use of people with or without kg's and i will not base my decision on it, because nobody can truly tell how much of a genius a ninja will be without a kg or with a kg. Do agree that it helps but there are many geniuses who even without kg's you know for a fact are still geniuses. My list acknowledges this fact therefore i will not discriminate so to speak against people with either special abilities or a tailed beast in them. Anyway my list is;
1. Itachi (His feats as a kid is next to none.
He was able to master and use the uchiha fire techniques at a younger age than sasuke who mastered the fire ball at 7.
Taijutsu, he was able to easy blitz past 3 uchiha members of the konoha police force with 3 tomoe sharigan and defeat them with taijutsu
Genjutsu and chakra control - able to cast a paralysis genjutsu on oro and cut his hand off.
Mastery of weapons- able to hit numerous targets with relative ease but also knew how to hold a sword. Even at a young age he specialised in all 3 forms of ninja art. How many kids his age can say that?
Mastered the sharigan at 8. Was an anbu squad leader at 13 and activated the ms around this time)
2. Naruto (yes naruto, he is a genius in his own right. He has surpassed his previous teachers. He did something minato couldnt do when he learnt RS. He did what jiraiya couldnt do when he became a perfect sage. Secondly he has developed various forms of rasengans and although im tired of seeing rasengan from him xd, i acknowledge the variations. Also note that he has shown several genius feats in battle with or without info on the opponent)
3. Sasuke ( I need not tell you he was hailed as a genius of his class which included naruto, shikamaru and shino. All geniuses in their own right. Secondly he mastered the sharigan by himself during his training with oro and contrary to popular beliefs he does train, example is his variation in many different forms of lightning release techniques, but also the ability to infuse it in weapons. He has not only shown us the most lightning release feats in the series, he also holds the strongest lightning release technique to his name that he created. During his training with oro, oro haled hailed him as a greater genius than himself and this speaks volumes)
4. Neji ( Alot of people underestimate this guy and tbh it actually pains me irl xd. This guy is the definition fo genius, hailed by sarutobi himself, gai and kakashi. What makes this guy so special is the discrimination he faced because he was from the branch family. Due to this he had not master the byagukan all by himself when he did. Secondly he didnt have the gain the secrets to the clans secret techniques and yet he created his own variations with no help at all. He was able to create techniques that already existed which he didnt know about, that is frighting. The strongest genin during the chunnin exam and although i acknowledge he lost, we all should know why. He out of all the genins was the only person to become a jonin to date)
5. Minato (Hailed by all those who knew him and although we still dont know enough of him as a kid, we can take the people who knew him's word for it. He mastered uzumaki sealing technique's but also created to date one of the most resourceful technique to date in ftg. Also created the rasengan after watching a tbb. The situation he was in and to still stay calm and came up with a plan for his 1 day old son is something to note even if it was a massive gamble that is currently passing off)
6. Hiruzen (We barely know enough of him as a kid, but for him to hailed the professor for mastery majority of konoha's technique's is no small feat. He is one of the few ninja's that belong in a special category for mastery of all 3 ninja arts, so much so even in his old age, he had a 5/5 for all 3 ninja arts. Hailed as the strongest hokage in part 1)
7. Oro (A genius in his own rights although an out of battle genius. In the few battles we have seen him in, over confidence has always been his downfall against opponents around his level although some are stronger than him. Although his genius isnt justified in battle, its justified out side battle and although we can disagree on the moral issues of his experiments, no body can deny his work. Also was also able to decode the uchiha tablet with help)
8. Kabuto ( Another genius in his own right. His genius feats is more out of battle situations and very much like oro, his sensei. He has gone a step further and improved on the basis and hypotheses of his sensei and due to this has allowed him to gain recognition from being a fairly low rank ninja to one of the strongest in the series. His feats as a spy is also unrivalled)
9. Kakashi ( Had massive potential but was greatly damaged. His genius feats alone speaks volume if you look at what he achieved during his time at the academy. He later become a jonin at 13. His potential was stunned, when he lost an eye. Its true that the sharigan gives him exceptional abilities, but also puts him at a disadvantage, its due to this that i believe that if he had not lost an eye, he would be stronger than he is now. Never the less a genius)
10. Shino (Yes shino and this is another one of those genius ninja's who do not get spoken off because he is quiet, but more importantly kishi didnt show enough of his although you can say the same for majority of the rookies. He was one of the strongest ninja's during the chunnin exam so much so that even after he didnt get to fight his opponent kankuro duirng the chunnin exam he fought him in the forest and defeated him. If you go back to that fight and look at the ways in which he figured out kankuro's weakness or the weakness of a puppet user in general is something to admire and if the exam had continued he wouldve been in the next round)
Other notable geniuses are sasori (who actually belong in the the top 10 but cannot be asked to edit). Lee and Nagato

dude you forgot shisui and all the tailed beast hosts such as killerbee shisui had a unique eye and killerbee has tthe power to perfectly control his beast and madara wouldnt have had the ems or ms if it wasnt for his brother helping him

do you people even understand the term 'prodigy'....naruto isnt a prodigy or a so called genius, yes he is arguably the strongest character in the story right now he did it through hard work not by being a prodigy.....sasuke was a prodigy being the lasf uchia and being at the top of his class in every category but he wasnt as good as nejii and would have been dominated by him, even kakshi said he was on an entire diferent level at the time I dont have a list im just stating some things
