Most of the people still thinks that Sasuke possess Itachi's powers because he got his eyes. But that's not true.
The only person who understood Uchiha's true source of power was Tobirama. He explained it to Sasuke who himself did not knew what was his source of power. Tobirama can sense the chakra levels and the type of chakra just by looking at the person (in case of Karin and Naruto) He studied the Sharingan as well.
Tobirama explained that the brain of the Uchiha is the source of their powers that brings change in their eyes.
And Itachi explained what was the purpose of the other pair of eyes. It gives the user a never dying light in his eyes.
SO Sasuke only transplanted Itachi's eyes and not his brain. So the chakra created in their brains is different depending upon their own chakra level. Itachi got the powers which his special chakra created out of his loss of love. Similarly Sasuke got his own.
After transplanting Itachi's eyes, Sasuke got a new light, a never dying light that enhanced his own MS powers.
And that is explained by the combined design of Sasuke's EMS.
Sasuke already had his own MS design before transplanting Itachi's. He got that design depending on his own chakra level from his brain. Similarly Itachi got his own.
But when Sasuke used Itachi's eyes, his chakra signalled his previous MS design along with the design already present in Itachi's eyes. That gave his EMS a combined design of both the users. And that enhanced the powers of Sasuke's previous MS which were feeding on his chakra.
Even Madara's EMS has the pattern of his MS and his brother's MS overlapping each other.
This explains that every Uchiha eye has a particular MS design instilled in it. This is just like changing goggles. You can see what your eye looks but gets a different feel either comfortable or uncomfortable depending upon the glasses.
After unlocking EMS, Sasuke's manipulation of Amaterasu flames got enhanced.
Also he got extra hands on each of the susano'o arms.
One of the arm holding a sword. That sword cannot be Totsuka because there exists only one which was still under Edo Itachi's possession. As well as the Yata Mirror.
Other than that Sasuke got an Amaterasu ball in his one hand and the bow and arrow. He can use the ball of flame to dip the arrow in it and use it or otherwise use the arrow as it is.
This is clear that he got more power ups than expected already by transplanting Itachi's eyes. So there's nothing more expected like Itachi's susano'o weapons.
In short, the eye is just a tool to bring out the power of the user.
The eye is independant of the user but not the vice versa only till the level of MS and not for EMS and Rinnegan. The user having MS already cannot activate EMS by transplanting someone else's MS except his siblings MS and that too in special cases like Sasuke-Itachi and Madara-Izuna.
That is why Shisui's MS can turn to tomoe as well as to MS.
That is why Nagato couldn't use Madara's EMS or lower level Sharingan. He got what was transplanted that is the Rinnegan.
That is why Obito wanted Sasuke's either MS or EMS because both forms were having ability to use the Susano'o.
Similar thing happened in case of Kakashi and Obito.
Both were shocked at Rin's death. Both lost their loved ones. Only the difference was Obito loved Rin as the lover and Kakashi loved Rin as his only left close comrade left after Obito.
Rin stepped in when Kakashi was about to pierce Mist Shinobi with raikiri. The loss of a comrade triggered his MS.
It is similar to the way how Naruto was ready to accept Obito's proposal when Neji sacrificed himself to save Naruto and Hinata.
And for Obito, Rin was the only person whom he loved which triggered his MS.
But the level of chakra created in their brains was on different level. Since Obito was already a Uchiha he went wild and started killing out of anger and pain. But for kakashi it took a toll on his chakra levels and got fainted.
Both the eyes are not connected to each other since the users are different. Otherwise whenever one uses MS the other's has to change to MS also. But since that did not happened it is clear that they are not connected even if they opens the door to the same dimension.
If the same eye is instilled in another Uchiha, then he can also use the MS abilities effectively as that of the original user.
