Tobirama is not Racist

Okay. Guys. With the new chapter and influx of Tobirama related threads, I keep seeing people throwing this "Tobirama is racist" phrase around. This is a misconception, probably based on a misunderstanding. Seriously. I will define "racism" for you:

Racism: noun \ˈrā-ˌsi-zəm also -ˌshi-\
1: A belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
2: Racial prejudice or discrimination

First of all, lets get something straight. The Uchiha clan is not a race. This is probably the most important point I'm going to make. The Uchihas are a group of people. The Uchihas and Senjus are the same race, they're just different clans.

Also, as far as I can gather, Tobirama does not believe that the Uchiha are inferior. Despite what a lot of people on the Base say about which clan is better, all that is said in the manga is that the Uchiha's were loosing and some defected. That, in some people's mind shows that they're inferior, but Tobirama never said "look, the Uchihas are inferior to the Senju". At least he hasn't clearly said this. Just because he views them as a potential threat does not mean he thinks they're inferior.

For the second definition, it is true that Tobirama discriminated against the Uchiha by making them the police force only and having them settle away from the village, and it could be argued he is prejudiced against them. However, I direct your attention to the word that comes before those two others : "Racial". Again. the Uchihas are not a race, so this does not make him racist.

I'm not going to deny that Tobirama did discriminate, and you're free to say that he did, but please stop calling him racist, because it isn't the right word.

Also don't think I'm trying to defend him just because he's in my ava and sig...you can like a character and be objective about it. I realize he did stuff wrong, okay. I do get it. I get why a lot of people hate him, and you can hate him, fine.

Not to be the one to use "racist" terms but I agree with your thread as I see that the Narutoverse is comprised of different races (mostly due to Kishi's use of skin colors ( which is another subject all to gether for another time)). I assume that the "race" of an individual in the Narutoverse would be more defined by country or region (or again skin color).... so from that assumption I maintain that the "Natives" of a certain land, would in fact be of the same race, Therefore making the Senju and Uchiha as well as a few other "clans" the same race but seperate "Families/Clans" ... While the clarification of racism could be better defined by what qualifies as race ( thread op ( maybe add the definition of race in your post as well)). IMO Kishi diefines race by color/country/region (even though I am starting to doubt the country/region, as the Hidden Cloud village seems to be made up of many different skin types/colors)) in the Narutoverse. Therefore impling that (IDK) Killer Bee, A, and Darui ( just to give some examples) are of a different race then Naruto, Sasuke, Lee, Neji, Kiba, Shikamaru, Choji, etc.. and including Madara, Hashi and Tobirama ( as they are predisessors)

So yes in the case of Tobirama, he has prejudice against the Uchiha ( and probably some other clans as well), but so far has not shown signs of "Racism."
