- Body switching was not a pastime for Orochimaru. He didn't take Sasuke's body after Madara's defeat because he didn't want to. He wanted to save him and watch Sasuke's flame.
- Didn't take Sasuke's body from Kakashi because he knew Sasuke would come to him, which is what he wanted.

Itachi seems to be the motivation for this new Akatsuki and you just called him irrelevant to the current story.

itachi never had intention to win, so he's exempt from the discussion from the start.

obitos loss was valid, and naruto and sasuke together were very strong; its not that surprising he lost, and certainly not pathetic.

kaguya was brain dead a incapable of formulating real battle strategy. plus, naruto and sasuke together is, once again, a deadly combination, and it is understandable that she lost. don't forget kamui shurikens helped. and that pink thing.

now orochimaru on the other hand... fought a decrepit od man with every battle planned in the palm of his hand, with every imaginable advantage, edo tensei, and even trapped his one and only opponent... and failed to destroy the village. theres just no excuse. as someone of supposed legendary status, he should've easily won. itachi, minato, nagato, any akatsuki member or kage, would have been able to to destroy the village if they were in his situation and wanted to do so that day. but orochimaru couldn't even accomplish that.

well if you didn't see things in black and white, you'd see that every villain represented different pains of the world, and that each time was completely different. everyone is the hero in their own story, except orochimaru, who clearly has some sort of severe psychopathic disorder, because he knows he's wrong, and likes it. meanwhile, all other villains weren't real villains, but were just people who had different ideas of what peace is or how to achieve it, and thats why they fought naruto about it.

in my opinion, deep character development, real emotions, understandable cause, and a real goal for a better world in their own eyes is a much better format for writing a villain, and it doesnt get old just because they aren't really evil. each one was completely different.

In my eyes, in my opinion a true good villain has no reason for being evil, the sob stories get boring. The standard "Good intentions but bad way of doing it" type of villains never appealed to me when I was younger and even now... That completely turned me off of having Itachi as my fave, it shat on my opinion of Pein, ****ed over my opinion of Madara... In my opinion, Orochimaru is the only villain to be a true villain in the whole series

Villains are meant to be evil, villains were not meant to be basically tragic heroes... Villains do not need to have a horrible back story, they do not need a reason to be evil.

What people dont realize is that if Orochimaru fails to take someones body it does not mean the person is stronger than him, it only means the person is too strong to take their body. Im sure Orochimaru with all his experience and forbidden jutsus could have killed Itachi if he wanted, but why would he hurt his potential future body?

By the way did Orochimaru EVER went all out? No, he even played with the 4 tail naruto while having his arms sealed. And Orochimaru has to be pretty strong if the whole Akatsuki (including Obito and Pain) are not able to hunt him down and kill him after all the years he left the organisation, but they are strong enough to destroy the whole Konoha village.
