As most Breaking Bad fans know by now, a prequel series is going to be made featuring Saul Goodman. Most people think it's a bad idea, and I agree to some extent. I don't think it should be anything longer than a season, as that's unnecessary for a supporting character.

But as for the story itself, I think there is great potential for a prequel for Saul. I think that it would be very interesting to see Saul before he wound up as a lawyer. To add a twist on his character, it would be even more interesting to find out that he was never an official lawyer, that at the end of his little spin-off, he get's into trouble with the wrong people and he has his guy hook him up with a new life (his new life being the life of Saul Goodman). It would just add a few more layers to the guy, and would potentially explain how/why he has the connections that he has. Thought?

Sooo, you think the story is a bad idea...but you think it's a good idea? You can't really say it's a bad idea, then say it has a lot of potential.

Anyway, a series for Saul is good. Saul is one of BB's most entertaining characters, even if he is support, Walt and Jesse would have been gone a long time ago if it wasn't for him, not to mention his actions, such as having Huell lift Jesse's ricin and cigarette, set up the conflict between Jesse and Walt. If anyone deserves a spin-off, it's Saul.

Don't worry about this series, it'll be good. S'all good, man.

Edit: The only thing I'm worried about is the actor. Who's gonna play younger Saul?

No, you misunderstood, I meant It would be bad to have 5 seasons of Saul's show because there wouldn't be that much that could go into it without killing the memory of Breaking Bad. But I am for it, as long as it's short, sweet and to the point.

Well, you're post implied you thought the entire series was a bad idea.

Anyway, two-three seasons should be good for Better Call Saul.

I think it's a bad Idea ether way.. I don't think Saul is a strong enough character to make a spin off. Now, if they make a Cop styled show with Hank as the main character, and have Walt make a few cameo appearances giving advice and having dinner and other things like that, then it could be good. Bring in old Characters like "Crazy 8" as one of the main informants and have Jessy be a small time meth punk (again, just cameo's). That way, they can further develop the characters that have died through out the series and give them more depth and emotion. That way when people re-watch, or even watch Breaking Bad for the first time. they will be more emotionally driven into the series.

Im not saying a spin off with Hank and the DEA wouldn't be a bad idea, but I don't think they should revive all the older characters. If they did that, it would feel more like the producers not wanting to let their product go. And that's what always kills great shows, when they start holding on too long. Let Breaking Bad be Breaking Bad, and let the spin off be it's own thing that exists in the same universe as Breaking Bad. Sure, a few cameos wouldn't hurt, but not many. For example, I can see Gus and Mike making a reappearance for a few episodes in the Saul spin off, but anything more than that will just feel awkward.

What? Saul is one of the most popular characters on the show. If it wasn't for him, Walter would have ended before season 3.

Besides, even if Saul wasn't a strong enough character, that wouldn't be a good reason as to why a spin-off is a bad idea. That way, we get a lot of new material. Saul is a strong character, but because of the vague-ness of his past before Walt and Jesse and the short time his appearances usually have in most episodes, we can get a lot of new material in this series, as opposed to Hank, who we know enough about. A spin-off on Hank would be like Naruto having a spin-off on Kakashi: it would be entertaining, but we've seen so much of the character in the main series, there's no point
