If he says something in an interview, but the total opposite is stated in a data-book, it's always better to believe the data-book, which was written over a long time, well thought-out and with much 'dedication'.

Kakashi is overrated because people believe when characters praise other characters that they are thinking of the whole naruverse.

Kakashi is the most powerful shinobi of his generation in Konoha
Minato is the most powerful shinobi of his generation in Konoha
Itachi is the most powerful shinobi of his generation in konoha
Naruto and Sasuke are the most powerful of their generation in Konoha

Also the characters that praise them are from the same village so it could be that these characters very powerful, but within their generation.

So really unless a character from another village highly regards another charater, like minato being praised by raikage, then we really can't claim they are as powerful as other characters state in the manga that are from the same village.

It's more really just "their powerful in their own right."

My answer: Most shinobi are overrated.

It ends right there, that first Ametarus technically killed Nagato. He regenerates because of Edo, then his arms get ripped off by Susanoo when Itachi saves Naruto and Bee, Nagato can't use Chibaku Tensei anymore but he regenerates his arm because of Edo. So far it is 2-0 for Itachi. When they attack Chibaku Tensei together, never did Itachi say that HE NEEDS them to attack, he just asked them do it so he could teach Naruto to keep his head cool in similar situations and find the weakness in every Jutsu, also Itachi asked them to attack it just incase his attack wasn't strong enough, we can't tell if it was or wasn't, better be sure than sorry , but I will grant this as a "kill" for Nagato just to avoid further baseless discussion caused by Nagato fanboys. It is 2-1 now and several seconds later Itachi 1 shots Nagato take a look at my signature

he used Azura path to grow extra arms to detain Bee, he didn't get his real arms chopped off and thus would still be able to use Chibaku Tensei. Third, Itachi STILL asks for them to use their strongest attacks on gravity ball, no one knows if Itachi would of destroyed it by himself, most likely not because he still asked for help. The truth is, Nagato had a major handicap for that fight, he's crippled, he's being controlled by someone unfamiliar with his powers, and he's fighting three of the strongest ninja in the entire series. Who knows how the fight would of gone down if Nagato had his full attention solely on Itachi.

The only two people who can defeat Itachi are SO6P and Madara. Itachi already defeated Nagato and most of the Hokages got defeated by a group of Jounins and fail Kages like Gaara, don't make me laugh.

Itachi never defeated Nagato. Reread the manga. It was Full Powered Killer B, KM Naruto and Itachi's susano & items(sword & shiekd) that had a almost deathbed time defeating nagato but finally managed to defeat him somehow.
