i dont see how people actually consider a world prior to the sun - without the sun there'd be no life forrms to begin with

There is a story or rather an ancient narrative i think its from before the china was formed that said days had no day or night. Then a god appeared and taught principals to the people. He created daylight and darkness. It became the moon and the sun.
Its something along those lines.

Oh and you can survive in darkness without the sun. Scientifically thats a proven fact. Want to know how? Read how one of saturn's moons Europa has running water even after being twice to three time farther from the sun that earth and getting 1/5th daylight from the sun. And if there is water then there should be microorganism.
* If you dont bother to look it up, a MOON by the name of Europe has active volcanos that make the core heat up thus expanding as a whole and contracting. That in itself creates friction and heats up the surface on its own.

The sun is a ball of hot gas. How can gas imprison half the body of the Juubi?

I like your idea and those guests but that's not SUN otherwise that would be "Sun shinning in the night(the sky is black) " which is absolutely bullshit....

So what is NV sun made of.

It was a sealing stone.

Probably an object with strong sealing properties.

The moon was a sealing stone as well,

Not really. In our world, yes. But in NV, it's more based off of ancient mythology where the moon and sun are believed to be distinct from the rest of the universe.
so basiclly youre throwing away all logic for the sake of being right, one could argue tsunade's milk jugs are the moon and the sun because they are round and glowy, and they are so very very hot lol aside from that no logic is necessary

on a serious note, explain to me what you believe the function of the sun and the moon is in NV and I will give you my answer

i see your point and it got logic actually, but its too much plot and no one besides the real god can create a star

Well, Kishi isn't a scientist. The story is based off of mythology. That is fact.

The sun and moon are on equal levels. They are polar opposites.

The moon's purpose is to seal the Juubi. The sun serves an equal purpose, to seal the opposite Juubi.

If they were not equal, that would mess up the whole symbolism. (Tsukuyomi=Moon, Amateratsu=Sun, Sharingan=Moon, Mokuton SM=Sun etc)

Since ancient times(where mythlogy is everything), the moon and sun are considered equals and the only way for that to happen in NV is to have the sun serve an equally important task of sealing the Juubi.

they arent exactly equal, the sun is the source of light and heat, moon is just a rock reflecting the suns light

In Japanese mythology, Amaterasu, the Sun Goddess is equal to Tsukuyomi, the Moon God.

what does that have to do with what i just said ? does it make the moon any less useless, perhaps you are saying the moon shines all by itself?

So where does Susanoo come into all this. Does Susanoo symbolise equilibrium between the sun (Amaterasu) and the moon (Tsukuyomi)?
Perhaps Susanoo is the warrior god who has attained equilibrium between sun-good and moon-evil ?
