There is a very clear dichotomy between moon and sun.

Look at Hagaromo's staff. One end is the moon, the other end is the sun.

The brothers and the moon and sun.

Hagaromo sealed the Juubi with his brother. He states "sealed it within us" that means they split the Juubi among them.

He also mentioned that he split the Juubi that was inside of him into the Bijuu. Why did he say, "the Juubi that was inside of him" instead of the Juubi? It's as if he is talking about his half of the Juubi.

If Hagaromo's Juubi became the Moon, his brother's Juubi very well could have became the Sun.

Everything seen in Hagaromo's flashback was dark and the only things in the sky were crescent moon and the "full moon". It was essentially the Dark Ages for the Narutoverse.

But I think that we have established already that Ashura is represented by the sun not the moon.
If Ashura is represented by the sun, then why does the sunlike object above him not light up the sky? It can't be the full moon because Kishi has made it very clear that the Sun represents Ashura and Moon represents Indara.

Hence, the "moon" under Ashura was actually the stone that eventually became the Sun. This brings me to my next point,

Those two constructs were just the sealing stones for the Juubi's. They didn't become the Sun and Moon until the Juubi's were seal inside them.

Perhaps the crescent moon was filled, like a cavity being filled by a dentist, with Hagaromo's Juubi and the "full moon" was filled with Hagaromo's brother's Juubi, somehow causing glow with bright heat.

The cavity of the moon was probably filled with CT, stuffing the Gedo Mazou inside it, creating a full solid moon.

Before people counter with scientific arguements, note that the NV sun and moon are not scientific, they are based off of elements of Eastern Mythology.

Not really ..

Sun = Yang

Moon = Yin

The sun is used to represent the body
The moon is used to represent the eyes ..

You realize what the sun is made up of right? There's no way that the sun is literally the second juubi. We can say that they created the moon to seal the juubi body, because the moon is a giant rock. Doesn't work for the sun, it's essential to life and its dumb to say they were living in total darkness prior to them creating the sun.

On this page it looks like there are two moons and it's at night. If the circle shape does represent a sun then drop in Hinata's first and last names translations in there. I think they mean sunny place and to the sun or someting to that effect.

i dont see how people actually consider a world prior to the sun - without the sun there'd be no life forrms to begin with

It's NV. Life forms doesn't necessarly need the sun to begin with.

Well, the sun shines by itself and the moon, i dont have to even tell you, even a ten year old knows.
that may mean ashura shines by himself and indra takes some light from him maybe.

There was the God Tree. With charkra and life force. Why need the sun?

Light could have come from the stars.

Or they could have lit fires.

Too busy looking at the sig JK.
I disagree, then sun and moon must represent the two sons, not the Juubi.

The "sun" was originally just a sealing stone. It wasn't until the second Juubi got sealed within that the stone got heated up.

Reason? Perhaps that whole half got sealed in instead of only it's Gedo Mazou

the stars ARE suns, so techniqually youre saying there are billions of jubi's out there

Then where did the other half go?

The sun and moon are polar opposites so why does the Moon have the Juubi but the Sun doesn't?

Not really. In our world, yes. But in NV, it's more based off of ancient mythology where the moon and sun are believed to be distinct from the rest of the universe.

I think he meant this :-

Perhaps the crescent moon was filled, like a cavity being filled, with Hagaromo's Juubi and the "full moon" was filled with Hagaromo's brother's Juubi, somehow causing glow with bright heat.

Elder Son- Moon - Infinite Tsukuyomi - Power - Fake Peace

Younger Son- Sun - Understanding others - Love - True Peace.

Crescent moon was filled, like a cavity being filled, with Hagaromo's Juubi. ( Used in Infinite Tsukuyomi.)

Full moon was filled with Hagaromo's brother's Juubi.
