The simple fact is that Hiruzen is nowhere near hashirama's level. Sure he has impressive abilities such as multiple elements and Enma, but it's still not enough to live up to his former (yes former) hype. Hashirama has the same hype as Hiruzen and it comes from Madara, someone who actually fought him and had Zetsu as a spy throughout Hiruzen's prime.

Hashirama's power was so great, that it was dismissed as mere rumor. Hiruzen's potential was comprehendable, but not Hashirama's. This could explain why Hiruzen received his distorted hype. Hashirama's techniques were shrouded by myth, which means he could never have been adequately compared to Hiruzen by the current generation.

Hashirama can use wood style defensively to survive even a TBB from Kurama. Bare in mind that this is base Hashirama. SM Hashirama is capable of more. There is nothing Hiruzen has or is hinted to have that can counter this.

Once you can actually bring a logical case that Hiruzen has techniques that can match this, then you can brag Hiruzen's the strongest hokage. He's strong and is worthy of the title of hokage, but he is not the strongest.

Exactly. Kishi originally wanted Hiruzen to be strongest but then figured out that he wanted Hashi and Madara to be prominent characters so he retconned Hiruzen's hype and is now trying to show that he was still powerful, but not as powerful.

This thread is just perfect. It's annoying to see the fapboys claim Hiruzen is stronger than Hashirama, merely because he has 5 elements. That's all nice and dandy, but what can he do with them? He has no feats besides the jutsu he has just shown. Of course this opens up the potential for feats. However, he doesn't actually have the feats.

Well of course Hiruzen is quite strong, he was Hokage for a reason BUT Hashirama was just on a league of his own.A few people just recently went crazy because Hiruzen used all five elements to counter (NOT beat) Spiral Zetsu.Impressive? Yes! Hashirama level feat? No.

It would have been truly a huge feat if he had actually BESTED Spiral Zetsu but it was a stalemate, moreover people forget Spiral Zetsu IS NOT Hashirama and another thing they forget is that Hiruzen is NOT soloing Spiral Zetsu, he has five kages and some other people that are not entirelly useless fighting as well.

He just saved the S.A from taking damage (just like Naruto did several times during this war by saving them from huge attacks from Obito,Madara and Juubi).

Because Hiruzen doesn't have anything that Madara considers worth stealing.

By feats, Hashirama is stronger than Hiruzen. By hype, Hiruzen is stronger than Hashirama.
all in all, we are seeing old Hiruzen currently not prime Hiruzen. With that being said, even old Hiruzen is not done for yet, so we may see more feats of him with the next chapters. I think it's only fair to see what he has until someone defeats him, just like what happened with Hashirama and Tobirama. They barely have feats when they first were resurrected, but then they got their feats.

Hiruzen's turn just happened to be the last apparently, and he only got panel time recently.
