This isn't a football game. This is a scenario where failing to stop something results in your death, the death of others and the fate of the world.

Sasuke's objective required killing Naruto to succeed. Naruto's objective was to stop him by any means (Bonus if he could convert him back). Whether it cost him a arm, or his very life.

You're so hung up on the fight that you fail to realize Naruto won the war in the end. He succeeded in that fight. It cost him an arm and he almost died and got his best friend killed (and vice versa they almost killed each other and themselves) but he stopped Sasuke from winning.

Sasuke lost Mentally, and Physically.

Physically unable to move he lost against the entire world as he was an enemy of the world at that point.

Mentally, he lost against Naruto and his adamant resolve to save Sasuke and make him realize that he wasn't alone in this world.
