Okay, look, I'll go easy on you, but I couldn't get past this statement. How can I respect your opinions if what you say is factually incorrect? Games like Chess and Shogi developed from, I believe, an Indian game (and I mean Indians from India).
If you've done any study of either, then it would be painfully obvious that Shogi is very different than Chess, especially in difficulty/complexity. I understand that there's a bunch of nincompoops calling Shogi "Japanese Chess"...that's like calling sake rice wine...
It's not my fault that western culture is blindingly stupid, highly arrogant and very uneducated. I can't do anything about it, they're very persistant in this. I may address the rest of your posts, but not until you've studied a little or can at least admit that you're in error.
"Any man worth his salt will stick up for what he believes right, but it takes a slightly better man to acknowledge instantly and without reservation that he is in error." -Andrew Jackson
Yes, this is me going easy on you, deal with it.![]()
Hey Mr Arrogent. I think I know everything so I'll go easy and tell you stuff that can be found on wikipedia. Sorry to all the people out there who havn't studied japanese board games and the whole western culture which you have insulted. Don't think your so superior because you know how to use wikipedia.
Oxford dictionary:
Chess
Pronunciation: /tʃɛs/
noun
[mass noun]
A board game of strategic skill for two players, played on a chequered board on which each playing piece is moved according to precise rules. The object is to put the opponent’s king under a direct attack from which escape is impossible (checkmate).
Online Dictionary:
shogi
[shoh-gee]
noun
The Japanese version of chess.
Origin:
1880–85; < Japanese shōgi < Middle Chinese, equivalent to Chinese jiāng commander + qí chess
How about you STFU because you don't even know what chess is. You know abit of basic history about chess being originated in India. It has evolved into many different versions over the years. What we call "chess" nowadays is international chess which is the western version. The Japanese version is called Shogi which by definition still chess. What your saying is that japanese chess and shogi are two completely different games which they are not. Orginally from India then to China then to Korea and finally to Japan. Are you going to say Spagetti isn't from Italy but from ancient chinese noodles?
Yes, sake is feremented rice = Rice wine
Oxford dictionary:
Wine
an alcoholic drink made from the fermented juice of specified other fruits or plants.
This is me going easy because I don't have anymore time I could waste on arrogant people like you. What you going to do next, say my spelling is incorrect so my whole statement is false?
Check.... your move.
First off I want to apologize to the OP for taking this off subject, but I promise that I'll end it with this post. That is, if my opponent looks at things objectively, but no matter what it's my last one along these lines.
These types of discussions get under my skin something awful. Simply because Western culture started to dominate the world for a while doesn't mean its books are accurate or intelligent. Let's go to Japan real quick and tell them that they're playing Japanese Chess...that's like saying we're playing English Shogi. They wouldn't be arrogant enough to do that to us, so why do we do it to them?
Why can't we just f-ing call things what they are? Why can't we just call it Chess and Shogi, instead of Chess and "Japanese Chess"? It's not Chess, it's Shogi, but if people persist in this, then I will start calling Chess "English Shogi". It's only fair.
The process for making sake is more like beer than anything, it would at least be more intelligent to call it "rice beer". Sake tastes nothing like wine, wine (for the most part) is not something I would ever choose to consume, its nasty and its basically the "Emporer's new clothes" in bottle form. Sake is it's own thing, completely different, you wouldn't compare liquor to beer or wine, so why compare sake to any of those?
Again, why can't we just call things what they are? Sake is sake, beer is beer, liquor is liquor, wine is wine. I don't know why these things have to be compared to something just to explain it. The Japanese don't call wine "grape sake", so why do we call sake "rice wine". It's lack of education, arrogance and laziness.
With that, I'm through, I don't want to go further off topic, nor do I want to discuss this anymore. Let's agree to disagree and leave it at that.
Itachi:
-Genius
-Learns ninjutsu really fast
-Activated sharingan early
-Graduated quickly
-Became anbu captain at a young age
-Hid Shisui's eye
-Devises a plan to annihilate his entire clan in one night
-Kept quiet about all of this and put on a face for everyone
-Enlisted the help of Tobi (Mandara at the time)
-Manages to get into Akatsuki and spy on them (two bird with one stone)
-Manipulates the elders and Danzo to protect his brother
-Decieved all of Akatsuki till the very end with only Tobi knowing the truth
-Able to fight Konoha ninja while never actually harming them but still looking like the bad guy
-Devised a plan for his brother to kill him in the end and recieve glory
-Devised another plan when his brother went bad, planning the use of his eyes would activate Shisui's eye.
-Figures out enemies techniques easily and knows exactly how to counter attack
-Knew exactly what he should do in the war (stop endos), being able to see the bigger picture.
Shikamaru:
-Has been said to be smart
-Devised good plans inbattle, rather simple but effective.
-Stresses out in heated situations (has to do his hand thingy)
-Battle with Temari was a disappointment
-Can play japanese chess
-Multiple quotes about how smart he is but has never been proven
-Failed retrieving Saskue
-Failed with Hidan the first time
-Due to laziness, probably doesn't know many jutsus or about enemy jutsus
Summary:
Overall, If you take out all the quotes about how smart Shikamaru is, he pretty much sucks. He hasn't really proven how smart he is. When he does it really exaggerated because all other ninjas can do that without even thinking about it. Oh wow I can count the number of ninjas hiding, or following me. Oh wow I can force the opponent to stand there and trap them. Oh wow I tricked them coz they didn't see the little shadow. All these little tricks have been done a countless number of time by many ninja but isn't exaggereted as much. We don't get to see them think about it like Shikamaru but you know most ninjas do this instinctively (except Naruto coz hes a bit thick). Soz Shika fans but you havn't got any proof of how smart he is compared to normal ninjas let alone be compared with Itachi. Keep it in the stat books but thats the only place his intelligence is.
