The Lower Barrens

The areas of the Barrens are nearly identical, with endless sand dunes stretching endlessly in a lifeless wasteland. The Lower Barrens does contain one point of interest; a sandstone quarry that transports sandstone all over the desert, used in construction and trade. Storms roam the area on occasion, upsetting the otherwise unchanging landscape. With the near collapse of the world thanks to Abzu trade and exports have slowed considerably, but the quarry continues it's work in spite of everything. Most people fleeing the Deadmines have taken up jobs in the comparatively less dangerous quarry.

Walter slowly traveled through the Lower Barrens. He didn't know where to go from this point onward.

Maybe searching for Kazumi was a bad idea especially without a guide or protection.

A week after training her new force, Kazumi comes to the Lower Barrens, introducing herself to the communities, and telling them that she will now protect them. The Mishima Clan will provide protection as well as trade and goods for the communities and villages in this ares. After meeting the village elders of each village and striking up contracts with each of them, eventually the whole landmark was under the protection of the Mishima. Each village had the icon of the Mishima Clan printed on their Village gated to mark their allegiance.

[Coming from here]

- Fight an enemy stronger than yourself to save your bijuu (S)

Having once escaped his pursuers, Sin finally found a small settlement to rest in and tend his wounds. He didn't let his guard down at any point, the last time he'd done that, it put him in the state he was in now. Though a couple of days passed and there was no sign of any culprits trying to follow him, no one hunting him and he was quite literally able to rest for once. The benefit of these lands was having the the sand storms covering his tracks.

With time to actually regain his strength, he was able to use his Yang release to heal his wounds. He wasn't quite proficient enough to be able to do it mid battle, nor had he had time to hone his skills with everything going on recently. In the small settlement he used the last of his money to gather some supplies, preparing to set sail the following day.

Sin's eyes shot open. It was still night time, all was quiet, what had woken him? He sat up looking around. Climbing out of bed, he grabbed his shirt and sword, walking to the window. Looking out, the streets were clear, silent, no movement. What was going on? Why did he feel so on edge when there was nothing there? The sudden sound of a bang on his door caused him to jump drawing his blade pointing it to the door in a rapid movement. He waited a moment before the knocking came again. It must of been the inn keeper. He placed his blade its sheath and walked towards the door. He couldn't shake the feeling something was off here, his spine felt cold. Was this fear?

Shaking his head he unbolted the wooden door staring to pull it open to ask what the commotion was. Before he could utter the words, the door flung open knocking him back as he stumbled as someone walked in. Regaining his footing he looked, someone was lunging at him. Jumping to the side, getting angry at the intruder bursting into his room he was about to shout though through the doorway, more and more flooded into his room lunging at him. He stepped side to side avoiding them backing towards the window. Why were they attacking him? He'd done nothing wrong. He jumped out of the window into the street, landing 15 feet below.

Before he could ask what was going on, those that burst into his room fell from the window hitting the floor, one after another in a pile, landing on each other without thought, screams to hesitation. "What the hell is wrong with you all?" Sin screamed. Though the answers would begin to reveal themselves. As soon as they fell, they began to rise one after another, limping towards him. As they moved closer their faces entered the light provided by the oil lamps in the street. Their faces grey, their eyes devoid of any emotion and each of them had one defining trait, their throats had been cut clean across, enough to end the life of any mortal. So how were they still standing? As he looked around for answers he recognised several faces, the innkeeper, the merchant he'd bought his supplies from, all of them in this state.

Sin slowly walked backward wondering how to put an end to this without attacking those who had helped him though his options ran dry as the streets all around him flooded with more in same state... undead. Drawing his blade once more, it seemed he had no chance until they all stopped 10m around him surrounding him. As they stopped a figure appeared on the roof of the inn clad in darkness. They stepped forth in the moonlight revealing their cracked skin, grey and flaky like ash, though he was different to the hoards around him.

"Who are you? Did you do this!" Sin shouted at the one on the roof. Anger boiled in his blood at the needless slaughter that had gone on. Not only that but someone had used an ungodly technique to control the bodies of the dead. The person on the roof laughed before jumping down towards Sin. As he drew close, the coldness down his spine intensified, he knew that face.

"What's wrong? Feel like you've seen a ghost? Thought crushing my body would be the last you saw of me? You clearly have no idea who you're messing with. Well time is up, you're coming with us." The ash like man spoke as the image filled Sin's mind, it was the man he'd killed while escaping from the Deadmines. No one could of survived that, how was he here? Why was his body like that?

Sin didn't have time to think as the hoards came at him now. Seeing the man he'd killed now before him was evident that his hunters could return the dead in one form or another. He had no choice but to end this. He swung his sword releasing waves of sand from the ground to wash over the hoards around him, pushing them back. Slash after slash he covered them in sand aiming to stop them, bind them and slow them. As he swung the man from the minds lunged at him, with a blade draw. His sand automatically protected him, blocking the strike capturing him and crushing him.

The man's body broke to ash as Sin was about to turn to release more waves of sand, though the sudden shooting pain in his left shoulder halted his movements as he called out in pain. He turned his eyes back to the man crushed by his sand to see him smiling, holding the blade implanted in Sin's shoulder as his body drew back together as the layers of ash reformed his being. Sin dropped his blade making a pushing hand gesture causing his sand to push the assailant back as he stumbled backwaves holding his left should with his right hand. His warm blood dripping down his arm.

"Dammit. What's with this guy?" Sin grunted through the pain.

"What's wrong? You think you could simple crush my body again? End my life so easily? You dumb ****, I'm immortal. My lord gave me this opportunity to exact my revenge. Don't worry though, you wont die, you're just going to suffer like this stupid villagers. You should of seen the look in their eyes, one by one as they choked to death on their own blood." His sinister laugh echoing in Sin's mind.

In Sin's mind talking to Shukaku

Once again, Sin found himself in the blood soaked sand realm of his mind, face to face with the one tailed beast, Shukaku. His face drained of emotion as he looked at the beast.

"Humanity ain't looking so great right now is it boy?" Shukaku's voice echoed in his mind. "You finally meet some nice people and oh look, humanity's shitty existence has to ruin it for you."

Sin didn't respond for a moment, he knew the beast was right. "They... they didn't care... they killed these people just for the sake of it... they mutilated them, used them for their own ends without a second thought...." His voice seemed like he was talking from a distance as he was within his own thoughts.

"So what you gonna do kid? Let them go? Hope that this is the last time? How's that working out for you?" The beast mocked.

"Kill.... I'm going to kill every last one of them and make them suffer.... " His words reverberated in the realm as it faded and he returned to reality.

The look on Sin's face was that of pure frustration. Without pause he control the sand to smash into his enemy relentlessly striking him constantly, destroying his body, consumed by his rage. It didn't matter though, the man reformed and constantly attacked. His sand shield tried to protect him, crushing the man but it was no use, he cut, stabbed and slashed at Sin, laughing constantly. Sin didn't move, he wanted to hurt the man, wanted to kill him, his rage limiting his thoughts. He was losing a lot of blood. The undead man lunged aiming for his throat but a surge of chakra flowed through Sin's body as a tail of chakra slapped the man away. Sin snapped out of his range for a moment in pure confusion as a voice echoed in his mind. "Let me show you how it's done." Shukaku's voice seemed oddly happy.

Giving in to the beasts will Sin let him control his body as he felt the mass of sand now shooting up gathering around the man in layers, one after another binding him, compacting on him. "You really think this is going to work? I'll just reform, you know this, you're done for you little brat." He laughed as he struggled against the sand though the sand kept piling upon him. The sand began to form into a unique structure a pyramid of compact sand. Sin felt his body walking over as his hand was placed on the pyramid, a script began to form from his hand as he felt the Shukaku's voice come from his mouth.

"You can't die brat? How about being eternally bound left to suffer? Maybe you can lament your actions!" His voice screeched and laughed as the script bound the pyramid. The man within tried to cry out and resist but there was no luck. As he was bound the army of the undead around Sin stopped in an instant. With this sealing the Shukaku had sealed off the chakra source ending the technique. The chakra that surrounded him had seared his own wounds preventing further blood loss.

Sin walked back to the inn to gather his things before making his way from the village. Before leaving he controlled the mass of sand to flood over the village, burying this travesty, none needed to know what happened here. Now it was time to put an end to this faction hunting him.
