This October a movie called the Interview will be hitting theaters across the country. For those of you who don't know, the Interview is a film by the creators of "This is the End" and "Neighbors" staring Seth Rogen and James Franco who are both put up to the task by the CIA to assassinate North Korean leader, Kim Jun-Un.
Now obviously, this film is a comedy and not one to be taken seriously. However this film has already stirred up quite a lot of controversy and it still has four months before its release date. There have been reports from the North Korean government that they view this film and its clear and distinct targeting of Kim Jun-Un as "an act of war" and if the US does not ban this film from screening that we will face the consequences by the end of the year.
I bring this up because I want to know what you all think of this bizarre situation. I love cinema; my life revolves around making films and watching films, and in all my years of watching films I must say that when I saw this trailer in theaters for the first time I was very taken back by it. I don't understand who in Hollywood would green light a film that is about assassinating a current, living authoritarian figure, especially one of an outside force. I understand that its in the good name of comedy, and that its a film so it shouldn't be taken too seriously, but there is a line when it comes to media.
