As for the people that Say Tobi is a genius. Ehh, not really. He manipulated stupid people, how does that make you a genius? I'll give him respect him though, he's good. Real good.

The fact that team shinobi alliance is running virtually on shikaku's battle strategy is a testimony to his intelligence..even shikamaru who could calculate 200 battle scenerios and have a knack of choosing the best move out of the 200 options haven't managed to beat his dad(shikaku) in a shogi game!..shikamaru being a younger version of his dad comes second..orochimaru comes 3rd(even totsuka's sword can't keep him out of the picture for long)..the likes of danzo and tobi often cursed him for how much he knew about their motives and the jutsu world.minato comes 4th(even though his battle prowess is second to none)..itachi 5th and tobi..note that intelligence and battle prowess are two different things...OP didn't include hiruzen the proffesor??

Just by going on battler observation and analytical skills i would say Minato with Itachi being a close second. They can see a jutsu and figure out out it works and come up with a counter strategy almost instantly. Kakashi and Sasuke are also right behind Itachi, especially after the time-skip.

When it comes to natural intelligence and the way to use research to there advantage and make yourself stronger then they were is definitely Ororchimaru then Tobi. Don't get me wrong they are good at seeing underneath the underneath, but Minato, Itachi, and kakashi/sasuke. seem to be in my opinion a little better in the face of battle then Ororchimaru and Tobi. Keeping in mind we havn't reallly seen much of Tobi's skills yet(praying we do)

This is just my opinion, but i like seeing other people's views

Madara is just a cocky douche bag that needs to be taken down a peg or two.

Shikaku - Better version of Shikamaru.

Minato - Created all his techs, outsmarted Tobi. Planned YEARS ahead, paving the way for Naruto's current powers. If it werent for this guy, Naruto would just be an orphan with no bijuu. If it werent for this guy, Naruto would've been consumed by hatred and the Kyuubi during the Pain fight.

Orochimaru - Knew a LOT about a LOT. Has got the closest to immortality so far (apart from Edo Madara).

i would say Minato and Orochimaru

Minato cuz he figured out tobi's s/t jutsu and its weakness in seconds (it took an entire fking chapter for kakashi,yamato and konoha 11 to just know that tobi uses s/t :sy: )

Orochimaru cuz the guy was a maniac scientist he figured out the uchiha secrets(that required rennigan or sharingan to read) by just knowledge and his experiments......i'm sure he must have invented some cool stuff too
