Hmmm. I think this means trouble. If I were in your girlfriends shoes I'd definitely want my boyfriend to like what I like, even my own friends. I think since you've felt awkward towards her I think you should simply tell her there is an awkward feeling. About you not liking her very much, maybe you should not hide these things. Being in a relationship means you will have a relationship with people you might not even want a relationship with. I'm not really sure what to say, let me ask you a question instead, it might help: What about her is it you do not like?

This is really a practical example of how people let their past interfere and let's it create preconceptions. From my point of view, a relationship somewhat resemlbes an alliance, people from both parties will have to meet and it's hard to predict whether they'll get along or not.. I wonder about this with it being her friends idea or not. It is already over so I believe it to be better not penetrate it further, you'll only be able to draw conclusions based on behavior solely which is not enough in this case, though be on your guard, it is hard to know if you're being tested or not.
As I said about groups coming together; one can't expect everyone to get along and I think our prejudice will talk for us in many cases. Sure, we'll be immature when being with our friends, I think I am as well at times. Btw were they looking at Kara or your gf??

And you said she is trying to split you up... This is obviously an example of her disapproval and prejudice. So correct me if I'm wrong; you don't want to hurt your gf's feelings by telling her your thoughts about her friend. Therefore you've not been wanting to answer her questions about this. Let's consider this; it is your gf who is asking you what you think of her friend, so I think she has some suspicion as to what you really think(or maybe she even has an answer(I've noticed how women tend to know our answer in advance even if it isn't correct...)). Assuming she does suspect you don't like her friend, I think it is better to tell the truth,. This inevitably means you have to take these risks of hurting someones feelings(even those of Kara for all we know). But it is up to you to make the decision, since you know what you want the best.
Remember; we tend to make things more complicated than they have to be.
