Gaiden was a disappointment in general. Instead of focusing on the new kids, we get some half-assed faux-Akatsuki plot? With a weak, pointless villain whose clones were more interesting than he is? Honestly, nobody wanted to read about Sarada's quest to find who her real mom is, especially since it literally turned out to be the person we thought it was all along. Nothing changed, it was terrible, etc.

But ultimately, everyone already knows that. I don't see the point in giving it any further examination.
